I haven't even gotten the last two muzzleloaders I paid for and I'm wanting another one!

Is there a term for this condition?

Greg

Well the .58 caliber guy sent me an ETA of 10-8-12 and a tracking number.

The other one, the .54, I sent the payment certified, signature receipt, and just yesterday received the green card back. I assume it's currently in shipment but I emailed the seller (a gun store) last night to check.

I REALLY like the look of a flintlock, I HOPE I like shooting them just as much!

You will become hopelessly addicted to flintlocks!

I did the same thing a few years ago. So let me caution you to do be certain what you want and then do some research, so what you are buying or ordering is exactly what you had in mind. At one point I had purchased 3 semi custom rifles and smoothbores and had two being built. That is 5 guns in one year. I didn’t get what I wanted. If I had done a little research and asked a few more questions here on this forum as well as from the builders I would have had exactly what I wanted the first time around.

A term for your condition... Lost, Toast? :rotf: It can only get worse. Don't fight it. Swim with the current. :slap:

I'm sorry, I misunderstood your question. There really nothing wrong with you. But you are jumping in with both feet encased in cement. My first BP gun was a Navy Arms reproduction of a Colt 61 Navy. Many years later I got a Lyman Great Plains Rifle and began going to Rondys and having a blast. I live near Great Lakes Naval Training Center and at my local BP range, ran into John Crunk. John was a good old boy from the south and was assigned at Great Lakes as an instructor. John shot a Dixie Flint Mountain Rifle and he was a good shot. We use to have meat shoots twice a month and John was able to feed himself so he could send money home for his wife and kids. John taught me a lot about flintlocks. I was good enough to win a lot of the parts I wanted for a flintlock. With the help of a friend we built my first flintlock. It wasn't historical correct in any way but it was mine. For a long time that my only flintlock. I learned a lot with that old gun. My point is by having only one flintlock to learn with, I wasn't having to learn all the finicky quirks of different locks, all at once. I would strongly suggest that you pick one and for the next 6 months just learn that gun. The others will be waiting and still be there, ready when you are. (Please note that you can handle and "play" with your new toys all you want. :rotf: )

Are you broke yet?

Is the wife threatening to burn down the house - with you and/or your collection of guns inside?

Is she threatening divorce and to take half the guns?

If not, then there is no problem.

Carry on.

What's next on the list?

the fault, dear Brutus, lies not in our stars but in ourselves ... now wait a darn minute ... this would imply that there is a fault, and I would posit that none exists.

you have not a condition, but are coming to the realization of the natural and proper order of the world, wherein ones rifles are properly made to fire by the striking of a flint to steel.

(pssst ... now you didn't hear this from me, but there is a true measure of a 'real man.' it has nothing to do with whether or not you drive a fancy car, or whether you eat quiche, or your sexual orientation, or what kind of shirt you wear, or even if you use a stick shift or an aotomatic transmission, but real men use fountain pens, know how to shave with a straight razor, and shoot flintlock rifles... does that mean if you don't shoot a flintlock you're some sort of wus? well, probably not, but why risk it...)

what i'm getting to, in an admittedly long winded way, is that

there's nothing at all wrong with you now- but there was a deficiency (now well corrected) in your world view; since you have developed a completely reasonable interest in flintlocks, you have entered the next level of coolness, hitherto unattained by those who are not as cool.

what?! opinionated and biased?? me - no not a bit!

muzzleloaderitis is a backward desease , it starts with likeing cowboy revolvers then you find out about cap and ball reovlers and how they are cool with their big smoke clouds , then you start to ignore the revolver and focus and the more powerful, accurate and practical single shot horse pistol , this leads to a deep understanding of how a gun works and you become interested in all types of actions from flintlock to matchlock , then the last stage of the disease before it spreads over all these catagorys is the small bore .30 - .50 cal (or even smaller like .22) handgonne . then you will apreciate all guns but especialy muzzleloaders .

Some funny stuff there, especially from MSW!

I'm a single guy actually, having never married or even been engaged. I live alone.

The last couple of GF's have known about my addiction and were OK with it. In the past, I dated several very liberal girls and just kept it secret mainly for fear of scaring them off. Oh this one girl...had she known that time she was going off on "Stand Your Ground Laws" that a loaded 38 Special was in the arm rest under her arm and a 9mm was under my shirt...well I guess her head would have exploded. :rotf:

I actually do shave with a straight razor and learned how to drive on a manual shift. I am also a ski instructor and skydiver, if that counts towards anything.

Guns are more addicting then crack I think. So powerful they don't even offer it in rehab hahaha

Well it was tough, and I very nearly put 2 more TC's on layaway, but I resisted. Just don't have the money to do that!

So maybe I am getting "better" but I would love to have had them.

Greg

I'm sorry, I don't see a problem. Each one I get is the last one I'll need. Then.
David

Sounds to me as if you're doing fine. I found that once I put the "I need" thing behind me, a whole new world opened up. It makes "I want" a much more operative phrase, eliminates the dreaded "too many" thing and removes the possibility of an overspending guilt complex.
