I've notices something. Every time I move up a notch in bore size, my previous biggun becomes my spare. I'm shooting several different 54's now, and one of those backs up the others, but when I got my first 54, my 50's turned into spares. Same happened to my 45 when I got a 50.

So, when I get a 58 my 54 will be spare, and when I get a 62 my 58 will be the spare, and when I get.....

I am going to make my Lyman Great Plains 54cal Flinter that I just got my main rifle. I will shoot roundball out of that. For my backup, I will have my 54cal percussion Renegade. It likes 100gr FFG and a 425gr Hornady Great Plains conical. I will use this one for windy days since that big conical doese not let the wind push it too much. I will also use it if it is really raining out. For the most part I want to use my flinter and roundballs.
