What is your preferred brand of #11 percussion caps

I don't shoot cap guns much, and want to purchase some #11caps for a friend's birthday (if I can get them). What is your favorite?

Probably the only #11s you will be able to find anywhere will be CCI. Those are the #11s I use anyway. But beggars can't be choosy these days. If you see any 11s I'd buy them. Your friend will be happy for sure.

I used RWS exclusively for many years until they went to the hotter "magnum" caps which cause vertical dispersion in my target rifles. Since then I've been using CCI caps, which work very well.

For deer hunting I use only RWS which I believe resist moisture better than other brands. For target shooting I use whatever I can get! I have had no problems with reminton, CCI, or the old Dixie caps

I’m kinda partial to the caps I make, but if I’m spending money it will be RWS 1075’s.

If I had the luxury of trying a few, I'd go with whatever fit the nipple on my gun best. Since that is not likely, I'd buy whatever I could find and fit the nipple on my gun (with a little sanding or light tapping) to the caps I could get my hands on.

What is your favorite?

Based on my limited experience, if given the option, RWS 1075s by wide margin, then CCIs, with Remington caps far behind. That said. I have well over 5k of the RWS caps, maybe 2-3k of the CCI and around 2k of the Remingtons. For any serious shooting I use the RWS, for plinking use CCIs, and for clearing out the chamber between shots will use the Remingtons.

Obviously, if one doesn’t have choices, whatever is available becomes the favorite…. Shoot what you have. And I wish your friend a happy birthday.

As stated, by many in this forum CCIs are about the only caps available. Preferred Remington to CCI for the longest, until bought a tin of Remington and got 20 misfires out of a box of 50. Too, the last Remingtons I used had the nasty habit of splitting and falling into the action. Never had this problem with CCIs.

Far as I'm concerned I won't by anything Remington sells period....!!! Long story but I do use CCI and have no complaints. Never used RWS but I would if I can find them in my area...
