Have a H&P musket back half(no barrel, just the lock & stock from the rear band to the buttplate). Had been told that a proper 1816 breech was 'in the works' but that still hasn't been appeared. Was going to have Bob Hoyt work his maJiX to get me a complete barrel. Apparently not happening.
Have a Harper Ferry(HF) 1842 barrel coming in that I'm going to borg together for an 1816/1842(H&P + HF) mongrel. Due to the differences in the H&P vs. HF breech, will have to make a brass spacer to act as a filler for the bolster area.
So, spent the day after work looking for hammers that are original but not jacked up in price by being the super rare unicorn of "a confederate conversion" male bovine feces that could be heated to be bent to strike the cap. Once the hammer is done, will need to start looking for barrel bands and springs. Got some leads, will post pix of a layout once able to start borging this musket together. May start a thread on this project once underway to track it better.
