Nice Cartridges. When I make paper cartridges, I tie a string at the base of the ball. This keeps powder from filtering down around the ball. Then I use the paper as my Patch. Semper Fi.Made my first paper cartridges for the Brown Bess.
I went with lube, so am thinking I'm going to prefer the smaller twisted end (I still tyed it) over the "flower end".

I liked the look of that style, but more thread handling and tying didn't appeal to me. It's why I don't fish much anymore
The method I used had a fold of paper separating the ball from powder.
