Spent the day yesterday cutting and pre-lubing a bunch of new patches. Patches are .015 ticking from October Country lubed with TOTW Mink Oil.

With mother nature being adamant with her bipolar mood, it appears as if it may be days before I can go out back of my house and do some testing with my Crockett Rifle. Still waiting on better and warmer weather before I go to the range to do more testing on my GPR, as well as a couple others.

I did receive another order from TOTW. :)

Today I chased the threads in the bolster of the Zouave I bought last week. They were deformed and the replacement nipples I got from Track wouldn't fully seat. All good now. I should be shooting it tomorrow.

I’ve never been happy with my Investarms Hawken, way too many hang fires and miss fires, plus inconsistent grouping. And I have a tuned, L & R RPL lock on it. The Investarms vent liner is tiny, smaller than a Pedersoli and off course even smaller than a White Lighting. When I was building the kit I opened the vent up to 1/16”, shot it for awhile, wasn’t happy, so I opened the vent hole to 3/32”. Wish I hadn’t done that, but it didn’t seem to make the ignition better or worse. So today I took the liner out and enlarged the inside chamfer, which almost didn’t exist. Put it back in, and chamfered the outside too. I left enough metal to recut the slot on the edges to remove it for replacement if this doesn’t help. Also considering putting the original lock back on and trying that too. The L & R just seems slow. I’ll shoot it tomorrow and see if any changes occur.

On.my NW gun ; stamped LONDON , proof mark and circle fox on barrel , then fixed a boo boo where there is a decent sized gap in the barrel channel . On other NW gun ; cleaned up tang area and sand smooth , cut in tang carving , incised . Then I'm refining the buttstock ....coffee break now . I'll finish the B.S. and then I'm gonna carve the incised carvings and the rear of both mortices . That'll probably be it for the day .... tomorrow start refining the stock forward of the mortices ...can't wait for final sanding ! For both actually !

Mine likes 500 gr Lee minies sized at .578, and 60grs fffg. Don't pound the bullet, but use a LOT of pressure seating it. Makes for small groups.
My sights are as follows.
Fine bead hits at 25yards, full bead 2"high at 50, dead on at 75 yards.

Well guys, I tried. I tried to do some testing with my .32 Crockett rifle but the wind was just too much for testing purposes. Shot 4 times, walked back in the house and went to cleaning.

I do have a recommendation for anyone that thinks they would like to live smack dab on top of a mountain......................Don't do it.

Shooting in high winds is no fun.

Talked to a group of the Children of the American Revolution of about 50 kids and adults. Told them about the harshness of living in KY back in 1786, the trapping industry and the guns needed to survive with.
The ladies sure loved trying those furs around their necks on cold day in KY....
