Couldn’t help myself. Early squirrel season is only 3 weeks long, so I said “what the hail” and went out again this morning.

Lit up a cigar this evening & did some profound thinking.

Proverbs 27:20 KJV:
Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied …

Given the cost of putting these muskets together, am going to drop using that rifled barrel and focus solely on getting 2 smooth bores out of this. If I need a 2nd rifled musket, then will stick with a Zoli Zouave since they are reasonably priced. The Loyalist Arms muskets are going to be used for practice/reenactment/hunting. That gives $$$ available to have Rob M. build a trade gun and get a Pedersoli Harpers Ferry pistol for NSSA single shot pistol matches. And have $$$ available for practice + cost of getting to matches. Less guns & more shooting is a good thing.

With that said, did one last layout and called it good for an 1842 smooth bore build. Everything else will go to my friend, David, at Lodgewood for consignment sale.

Thank God, I’m at peace with it.

Edit:
Rotated pix so it is easier to see.
Green tape is for original parts. Yellow for reproduction.

I modified a brand new Centaur Forge rivet forge so it will be portable and I can take it to rendezvous events. I built and added the blower assembly so it attaches to the forge. It is made now so the blower assembly and the legs come off from the forge pot and forge pan so it will easily load into the trunk of my car. Looking forward to forging in some coal fires !!

Is there any chance at all of that blower adding enough weight/leverage as to make the forge unstable/tippable?

Maybe a touch of counterbalance weight bolted to the opposite side.

I was luck enough to win the bid for a TC50 cal Hawken rifle on a Gun Broker auction. Got the brass all polished up. Gotta get used to that set trigger. Breath on it and she goes off. Lol

What stain is that? It looks like the tint I'd like on my poor boy.
It’s a mix of Laurel Mountain Cherry and Maple diluted with denatured alcohol. I tried 4 different mixes until I got that color. It’s about 50% alcohol, 40% cherry, and 10% maple. I made a couple of ounces to keep, then proceeded to knock the jar over on my work bench!!!
