Last Friday I took my wife out for dinner then went to Walmart and picked 6 tins of #11 caps. Tonight I took her out for dinner and stopped at a gun shop and picked up a couple pounds of 3f Schuetzen. Maybe next Friday I’ll take her out and try another Walmart for caps lol.

My wife is still 12 days in Colvid mainly in bed, she gave it to me, I was so unwell all I could do was watch Holts uk auction, I spent £1150 on two guns, all her fault, a rusty shot gun for parts and a Feltsuter Swiss ml , all her fault

Looking back I should have bid on this German flintlock too nice around £900

Fired up the lead pot and cast a bunch of balls in .285, .310, .530 & .562. Had to quit early because I was sweating so much I was concerned about dripping into the hot lead:eek: Just finished pulling everything back into the garage and rain started - good timing!

Rummaging through some boxes today and discovered this L&R lock that I ordered at least 23 years ago and forgot to use it! I think it might be an old Durs Egg model. The part number is 1700, but I don’t see this model in the current catalog. Going to call L&R tomorrow and see what they can tell me about it.

Made a duplicate set of pins and mixed up a 30/70 solution of Jax brown/water. Treated all the brass from both kits, just a light patina. Did some wiping/burnishing to the stock, dang thing is still a little tacky in a few spots, should be dry by tomorrow.

Shot the new Lyman Trade Rifle .50 cal. Shots below were offhand at 50 yards, we have. 7” steel plates at 50 and 100 yards, offhand went 4/4 at the 50 yard plate, went 2/3 at 100 yds, (actually hit the first time, guys were teasing me it was luck missed the second shoot, hit the 3rd time and quit then) Also shot my .45 cal TC flintlock. In the next day or so want to put the new Lyman on the bench but very happy so far.

Cleaned my .50 Renegade today for a second time after last Sunday’s range session still fine tuning sighting in a Williams FP-Hawken peep and Lyman 17AML globe front sight. Then swabbed my .50 GPR and Pattern 1853 .58 cal. 3-band Enfield barrels — just because I was bored. I always seem to get just a little discoloring on my cleaning patch days later even after a thorough cleaning with hot water with a little Murphy’s mixed in, then a lube.
Decided to go through all my ammo cans and BP wood boxes I’ve kept stuff in over the many years. Found 4 tins of CCI and Remington No. 11s a month or so ago I forgot I had, and a few other odds and ends I’ve accumulated over the years I haven’t seen in a long while, not to mention a double set trigger I had stashed in the back of the drawer in a 100-year-old heavy wooden library table I use as a work bench. It was like Christmas in August!

A neighbor came over with his .54 cal flinter , with a ball stuck against the breech plug , and absent of FFFg. He had one of those cool CO2 ball removers , but the rubber end was cut , so it wouldn't seal. So.....put a squirt of WD40 in the bore , and ran a cloth down the bore to clean it a little , fixed the rubber nozzle on the CO2 ball discharger , applied the discharger , and the ball went plopp , onto the floor. Happiness all around.
