Got the barrel drilled, slotted, and pinned. And fitted and pinned the pipes. Also glued & pinned the ram rod ferrule and sanded it down to fit. So most of the busy work is done. I’ll let it sit and rest a few days.

This apple is fighting me tonight ,you sir do beautiful work you must have a lot of patience to do that tiny bead work and a good magnifying light .
Thank you. You do need good light and drawing out the pattern ahead of time. Patience does help. I don't use any magnifier. It is time consuming but I enjoy doing this.

Good shootin', Tex!

After studying Notchy Bob's recent link to a "Springfield Model 1842 cutdown musket" it took about five minutes to decide my Armisport 1842 was going to get chopped. Lots of issues with this example of Italian craftsmanship so it's more or less been a "kit" since I bought it. Metal will get patinated and after lots of wood thinning will be stained dark. A work in progress...

Took my Ruger Old Army out for the first time and it's a shooter! Only problem was it grouped high left and the rear sight screw was bottomed out and I couldn't move the rear blade to the right. Took it home and cleaned it and was able to put a little Kroil on the windage screw and break it free and center the rear blade.

Anyone know what the thread pitch is for the ROA rear sight elevation screw? I have a screw checker and the screw is bigger that a #6 and smaller than a #8 screw. Rather than trying to file the screw down to allow me to lower the rear sight more, I made a small washer from some thin sheet metal and it fit right under the screw head and allowed me to fully lower the rear sight. Now to take it back out and see if I can get it to shoot where I'm aiming!
