I'm just spending another day pondering my next project. Choices are: Kibler's new fowler (easy peasy), 17c pistol (need custom bbl. & lock), Hudson Valley Fowler (50+" custom bbl. &lock), another rifle off a precarve I already have, or try again to buy back one of my old Hudson Valley Fowlers from the guy I sold it to. 'Great way to fritter away a cold windy day.

ran an experiment when I got home.

been thinking all day at work how to pre-measure and store small amounts (15 grns) of fine powder for pistol.

I came up with using sealer on FoodSaver vacu-seal and straws.

filled with powder sugar as a simulation for 4f. sealed both ends and dunked in hot water for a few.

cut off one end and poured out unscathed. I now know what I'm doing from now on !!!!

now I gotta look to see if grocery store or other places have clear straws.

Great idea, just when plastic straws are being phased out! 😱

put one last coat of tru-oil on the cherry stock early this morning.
one last browning treatment on the barrel, after 3 hours i carded the barrel and neutralized the agent.
right now the barrel is baking with oil to set the brown.
mounted most of the hardware. will give the barrel another hour or so and put it in the stock.
pretty piece of wood.

also worked over the new mainspring for the Hadaway lock seems to work great.

Well if you forgot my address, just ask... I can remind you! ; )
In seriousness, I helped an old friend frame out his new cabinet shop. What does that have to do with muzzleloading? I'm going to have access to it and all it's industrial grade toys. Lathe work here I come! Plugs for powder horns? Yep I can do that. A cup lathe? Yep, I've got access to that. Etc, etc. He made a bargain with me, that really is a bargain for me.

Had a little delivery from Middlesex Village Trading Co. today...I have a nice, new spring vise for working on my Colonial.

Going to have to raid the photocopier waste toner tank tonight for some "carbon" and the art supplies (small paint brushes) from the ladies in the house so I can make a homemade Prussian blue to start fitting a barrel this weekend, I think ;)

Perhaps in my running around tomorrow, I can make it out to Lee Valley and get my aniline dyes (I have test scraps now) or I'll have to start sketching out lines and carving the thumb "notch" for my patch box lid ;)

That’s a neat looking pouch. I say go back and get it. It’s only money ;).
I have a Chambers PA Fowler in the works and will need something to carry shot in….it was just a little more then I would like to spend….maybe I will go back for better pics and see if he will come down.
