i am not really a percussion collector but i think this one may stick. if the rain lets up tomorrow i am going to burn some powder in it and see how it shoots. be interesting to see what it will do with prb's.
i have some conical that i will try also.

snowed then sun came out. shot the AH with PRB. still need to test different loads, and conicals.

I visited the Alcove Spring in northeastern Kansas today. It is located on the Oregon-California Trail near a major crossing of the Blue River. The crossing was called the Independence Crossing.

There was a junction out by the highway where they built that statue of buffalo kill cody, they had to manufacturer a synthetic Hill to put it on there ,
An there was a colonial steakhouse and buffet there , and that old antique shop and that's where the world's largest prairie dog was at

What ball of twine?

Tom, I have pictures of it with grandsons somewhere but can’t find them. I lived in Hays for about 7 years about 30 years ago. We used drive through Stockton a lot and I hunted deer just south of there.

Sethwyo, I used to travel western Kansas a lot and have been to Sharon Springs a few times. I even stopped a Ft. Wallace a couple of times. I had a good friend who was a Lutheran pastor in Oakley.

It is fun to read people discussing Kansas and pre 1866 history in Kansas. Kansas isn’t the mountains but a lot of folks went through it to get there.

Restocked my shooting bag for the next outing. Made some more .010 patches, and lubed 'em up.

Got out a 3" square of 600 grit auto body paper , and very , very lightly went over the fourth coat of paste polyurythane to prep for the final coat of finish on a T/C restoration . Was only a 15 min job , but was what i did related to a m/l , today.

Used a 1 lb pure soft lead block to hammer down some . 323 round ball into the chambers of my 1863 pocket model. On top of 10 grains of 4f Swiss.

Shaved off a perfect ring and zero misfires out of eight shots.

Couldn't hit the broad side of a barn though.....well, it is a belly gun ...
