On Saturday, the North-South Skirmish Association held their carbine team match at the Spring National. My team came in 2nd in Class A-3. Got me shiny medal to look at!

Did a little shooting with my jukar flintlock. Was able to get around 20 shot off with little trouble. This is my first flintlock and I'm finally getting it figured out after doing some work to the lock. Cant wait for the day that I can afford a nicer rifle like a Kibler but have been enjoying the one I have for now.

Was given a Euroarms 1863 Zouave yesterday. Knew nothing about it. Spent today reading up on Zouaves and online shopping for kit.

Drove about two and a half hours South to meet a fellow member from the forum. Turned out he is a great gentleman and a wealth of knowledge, he showed me some things he made, everything was impressive. Well worth the drive.

I just spent a couple of nice days in the scrub, camped under a shady gum tree directly by the water. This morning, this unsuspecting young lad came toward the billabong to quench his thirst. The .54 Pedersoli Rocky Mountain Hawken did what it was supposed to do - roundball, spit patch, 80 grains of Wano FFG real black. He yielded 35 kilograms of lean venison; the young spikers of this size are superior table fare compared to the large racked mature stags. I was fortunate enough to get an image of him as he was coming in, click with the camera, then up with the Hawken.

Ha ha do be careful by water especial if you go up north Darwin area When I was in Perth a few years back. The local paper reported that a hunters client ,he was escorting , was walking by water , rifle in hand and a big croc leapt at the client and seconds later he was gone , my cousins daughter left Darwin and returned to Perth as she said several kids had been taken by crocks , not nice . I gather crocs are protected now . Except if they eat a cane toad, last time I heard Toads had made it west approaching Darwin. The big hunter was Marraki after a local town up north, You can a find him on “Marraki last Buff”. or. 577/500no2 double rifle on google Don’t bother with WA very little to shoot a generally barren land, been up as far as Exmouth and south to Bumbry .?of course muzzle loaders are banned for hunting, so get a proper rifle, at 81 i don’t fancy another long 23 hour flight to Perth , Must say Perth is a beautiful city, but glad to get back to UK The big gunny range is at Jandulop 20 miles north of Perth I did note when for fun I typed Darwin into the Tom Tom, It said “take a right turn at next crossroads, after 2000 miles take a left turn and then you will have reached your destination”’. Great place love the people so wish them well. Love from uk

I sympathize with you back in the day I tried to make a .545" round ball mold for my new 56 cal TC smooth bore as i couldn't get any balls for it , and the TC molds were way out of my budget > $100 the first attempt took me a week to make and the two haves produced a ball like your picture. but I learned more about using a mill doing that then I have in the 30 years since the second one only took a couple of hours and works fantastic. if I had to do it all over again I would just buy the factory one, but a odd sized one maybe just to keep my blood pressure up
We were competing at Fort Shenandoah last weekend at the N-SSA Nationals
The 48th VA, 30th VA Sharpshooters and Palmetto Sharpshooters marching to our places on the line. The 48th VA finished 6th in Musket A2 and the Palmettos finished 7th in Musket A2. The weekend started out soggy, but improved as time went on. Great fun sending lead downrange with a push from the Holy Black!

Yesterday was my first day back for the season at Robbins historical village. Got limbered up forging a couple firesteels and doing public fire starting demonstrating. I made a third firesteel later that isn't in the picture that is a twin to the middle steel. Great sparkers !!
@brewyak where did you shoot up in the hollow near Bellwood?
