I added some silver wire inlay embellishment to a French model dragoon.

Used about a half bottle of Neatsfoot oil on the new N-SSA gear to get it flexible.
Leather must have come from Pakistan since it was so dry. It immediately soaked in wherever applied and was difficult to spread since it soaked in so fast. Round #2 will be later today.
Mixed up the maJiX hocum of 1/3 Murphy's Oil, 1/3 isopropyl ETOH, and 1/3 H2O2 and put in a 500ml metal thermos/water bottle thingie that hadn't been used in years.
Got a 6 pak of German brewed adult beverage from local grog shop whose brown bottles had the flip top lids to hold the rest.

Too bad they were still full of imported beverage that's not good for cleaning guns.
I guess you had to empty them.
I could have helped! :ghostly:
Would have but had to do the brave thing & sacrifice myself by throwing the body on that 6pak of Flensburger Weizen.
Time was critical and didn't have time to call in reinforcements.
Thanks for the offer though, will keep you in mind the next time such trying times come round.

These were 11.2oz bottles which meant it was originally a metric measure which turned out to be 350ml when tested with water.
Light came on. I had gotten a 500ml measure at WalMart when I got the plastic funnels. Just pour to an even 100ml with each component into the measure.
Then you got the even 1:1:1 mix and use the funnel to pour into the bottle & seal up. Just a few minutes later it was done.

Went to my Saturday club shoot with two short rifles I got just before all my summer troubles hit me and I couldn't get out. Shot a .50 cal CVA Bobcat, and a .50 cal CVA Mackinaw. Never heard of the Mackinaw but it shoots well. Both rifles shot well. Really a good day for around here, temps in the mid 80's and very little breeze. Had eight or nine people to shoot. Not a lot of folks but when the winter visitors it'll pick up a lot. I had a real good day.

I finally brought out the 'ol girl (CVA Hawken .50) to see how she likes the real black powder. Swiss 2F. Had some new neighbor's that needed to get broken in to the experience of living next to me. Ran several dry patches to start, then soaked one in denatured alcohol to make sure all the oil I stored it with was out. Made sure the nipple was clear and proceeded to turn charcoal into smoke and noise. I was surprised to fine a more accurate load at 80gr (by weight) under a .490 ball, .010" patch, and a wonder wad. My wife commented that that load sounded like I was shooting tannerite in the backyard, much louder, and more thump. Shot about a 2" group at 50 yards which i'm happy with. Going to confirm the load over the next week shooting a 3 shot group each evening for a few days to make sure it shoots well each time. After I hit the post reply button i'm going to go and clean the rifle.

Did some horse tradin’ at the next-town-over gun show and got this. Left hand Chief’s Grade Trade Gun, .62 caliber, 41” barrel. Kinda thinking it may be a North Star West as the lock is nearly identical to one on ToW’s website (Sale Pending), albeit mine is LH and dirtier plus a British(?) inspection stamp.

Earlier today I started my first fire with flint & steel, I was very happy about that.

Then I made 65 lubed .50 wads using wool felt and a HF 1/2” cutter on the drill press. I sharpened the edge before I started and it did a good job. The wool was thicker on one end, so a few of the wads are too thick. When they cool on the wax paper I’ll cut in half with a razor blade. I melted my homemade lube that’s 15% bees wax, 45% canola oil, and 40% lard. Give or take.

Are you referring to the downward-pointing arrow stamp with a partly-struck crown? If so, yes, that means that the lock was sold out of British Government service. This is on the lockplate of what is NOW a Snider carbine -

I have never seen one on any kind of a flintlock, especially a left-hand example.
