What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

I know enough to not even try. Not everyone has the gifts that are required to build a gun. I can shoot 'em and fix 'em but do not have the patience and skill needed for the wood working.

I may be in the same boat as you are, in terms of building a ML from scratch. I've considered this many times and I have come to the conclusion that I need more woodworking and fine machining skills to attempt it.

Kudos to those that can but this ole boy knows his boundary lines.

I worried if I was weakening the barrel milling a long shallow dovetail in my martini 577 Yes very neatly done on your part , I did one the other day but on third attempt the brass male dovetail was still too loose so added a screw , well done with care

I used a hacksaw and file. Stroke and fit, stroke and fit....

Yes, definitely Kipling's work. Published 1917.

Yep. Definitely Kipling, from his Diversity of Creatures collection, published 1917. Often, the word English is substituted with the word Saxons.

Tom A Hawk, Yes I colored them. They were white when I acquired them from ebay. I used Fiebing leather dye. A mix of Golden Brown and Yellow. I slathered the dye onto the grips and let it sit for a day. I then buffed the grips with a wool cloth. As you are undoubtedly aware polymer doesn't take up much dye, so most of the dye buffed off but enough remained bonded to the grip that it does present a fairly authentic look. The grips obviously aren't authentic fossilized mastodon task but then I also only have about .15c worth of dye invested.

We’ll I went shooting today and settled in the load that generated the attached group. I knew I pulled the fourth shot as soon as it went off.
Also, dry balled for the first time. LOL

Well they look good. I used concentrated tea to darken stag and that work really well but you're right about getting anything to be absorbed into plastic.

I can sympathize, I’m torn between working in the shop and doing spring time chores like cutting wood and getting the garden ready for planting. Don’t have the energy for everything any more, but I will continue to persevere.
