Finally got my double set trigger working and got the trigger guard set and pinned. We now have a working 50cal rifle.

At noon I curled the hair on my knuckles testing it, it's pretty fast!

Shot a couple of aluminum cans with the Yellow Bird Gun, then went off on an adventure. Toni wanted to go to the "female finery" shop to get her hair cut and dyed... among other things. Spent most of the time she was there at Kwik Trip ingesting stuff I'm not supposed to eat, then went to pick her up. Next trip was to my old boss' gun shop where I discovered a Lyman Great Plains Rifle. Bore was in pretty rough shape... as most of 'em seem to be, but Dan still wanted more than I thought it was worth given the condition.

Next gun I looked at was a T/C Renegade in .50 caliber. It was missing the nipple, but the threads looked OK. Stock was in good condition with no cracks, most of the curlicues were near the butt where they belong and I've seen guns with worse bores. Rear sight was typical of what I normally see on T/C Hawkens and the front sight was also more typical of those found on Hawkens, but with a brass bead. Price was the same as the Lyman. Guess which gun I bought.

Stopped at a fancy schmancy grilled cheese sandwich place for lunch. Food was OK, but overpriced like most restaurants are these days. On the way home, hit Dairy Queen for more stuff I shouldn't eat then drove to Wrightstown along the West bank of the Fox River so as to be able to stop at one of my banks to pick up a cashier's check so I could order my Rice barrel.

After hitting the bank, we drove around the town of Greenleaf to see if any houses were for sale. This takes about five minutes. Saw a few money pits, but none for sale.

After arriving at home, I inspected the gun a bit more carefully, checked for obstructed bore/loaded breach and upon finding neither condition existed, installed a nipple and loaded it with a PRB and a 50 grain charge. Ball hit relatively close to a 25 yard target. Unmentionable in a plastic wooden shoe hit to point of aim with a 70 grain charge. Did experience a few misfires. Most likely the nipple I fitted needs a bit of work or replacement, but they fired on the second hit.

Plan to pull the lock when I clean it in a few minutes and do a bit of CLA work on it. Might do some work on the nipple as well. Possibly time to order more from TOW.

Posted my deposit for the Rice barrel, stopping to say hello to Vir and Delenn (the current generation of porch tigers) on the way to the mailbox, but like typical cats, they looked up briefly and then went back to gorging themselves at the food dish.

All in all, not a bad day.

Called my aunt and they’re going back to the doctor next week to decide/schedule surgery to remove that cochlear implant & move the brain. I called my boss to let her know that I’ll be needed at the hospital. Total support from her. Would appreciate prayers for this situation.

Not a totally bum day, the LGS called that both muskets arrived. Unboxed them there and got 2 of the guys there copying down Loyalist Arms website to checkout to get them a musket. Obligatory musket p0rnz below. Oh! Spotted a good condition T/C Renegade for $275 the that is going to be snatched up come payday.

Good evening I have kept the .5 no2 double barrels at £266 as I have a spare set of L&R flintlocks

Dropped the 8 bore down to £128 as I cannot buy a repro percussion action for that

The 11 bore is cancelled as I found I had one on the chairs

I thought buying scrap junk guns for lot £850 including premium. Might just as well spend a bit more and get something decent

Who knows ???? Wait to 30 th March

Both are Loyalist Arms muskets.
The one on the left is an 1840 US Flint musket cone in barrel conversion to percussion.

The one on the right is an 1839 Tower Percussion conversion musket. It came from The Muzzleloader shop, ltd.. located in Berryville, Arkansas.

The owner of Loyalist Arms recommends buying from The Muzzleloading Shop for now due to them having staffing issues still from the COVID crazies. From the time I sent the USPMO to Arkansas until the musket arrived here in Plano was 7 days. It took from August to yesterday to get the musket from Canada. Just be aware that the Arkansas shop doesn't have all the muskets in stock.

Nota bene: these are not N-SSA match approved since they're from India.

Finished dbl barrel 12 gauge that was gifted to me by an old family friend. He had found it at a garage sale parts in zip lock bags and a very messed up stock. Had been in storage for decades. Luckily he lived up in the dry mountain air so very little rust. I made an ebony but plate and gave what needed a blueing. You CVA haters go ahead and hate but I love this gun.

I wouldn't worry too much about haters; I have twelve CVA guns, pistols and rifles, and have had several others. I have never had a bad one except for the one that had been neglected. It provided some fun since I made it into something entirely different. Just enjoy the shotgun. Get a bird or two for me. Polecat

They finally lifted the burn ban in our county and I was getting rid of old lumber and such from a remodeling job. I almost burned a 4 ft. square piece of 3/4" plywood but talked myself out of it. It'll make for a good penetration test.

Oh what have I done. Holts auction I bid £1024 on this German french flint rifle 1755 below It will be £1333 with buyers premium. And I have bid on the tatty 8 g And a pair of double .500 barrel and £1200 is due on my catamaran next month. Looking on the bright side I was 80 last Wednesday , I am still alive brainless I guess ha ha my only regrets it’s only a 25” barrel

I love the ebony butt plate, beautiful gun
