Went to a local antique gun show yesterday morning and was tempted to but a pecotonica fullstock Hawken that was built 30 years ago. I decided against it, for now. I waiting for Kibler to come out with one:) last night we went to wally world to get some patch material. I'd of rather dry balled 2x and shot my ramrod out at the range than gone through that adventure, but we came home with the goods

Lemme guess…. No employee available to cut the patch material?
It makes me wonder why they bother to complain about shoplifters when there’s no one watching the store.

Yeah, I’d rather shoot some kind of modern plastic gun than go to that place. Only small good thing about ours is that right before deer season they get 5 packs of #11 caps.

Got told I needed to leave a range yesterday by the RSO because my smoke was bothering the other shooters. I was taught a RSO is never wrong so I left. Will complain to the board next month but not looking good as they pretty much support the RSO always.

Nope, several pages on the loud speaker didn’t work. One nice guy looked at me funny when I asked him for help and then I realized he had no clue what I was saying. We finally cut our own yard and took the cardboard roll with us to checkout so they could scan it. Nope, was told it didn’t work that way. 10 min later after holding the line up waiting for the manager at the resister she decided to scan the barcode that “wouldn’t work” and waalaa $6.99. It took over 45 min for the entire process. Next time I’ll venture into the pits of the adjacent city to Joan fabrics to see if that’s any better. Did I mention the full aroma of marygewanna was throughout the store??

I wasn't very happy with the quality of inletting I did for a lollipop tang, I was swinging above my weight and it showed with the gaps around the tang head. I re-breeched the barrel with another long tang breech plug and plan on shifting gears to make this rifle a plain early Deep River-ish rifle taking lots of inspiration from the first rifle featured in the "Southern Longrifles Plain and Fancy" article by Ray McKnight

last foray into wally world for me, I was certain i had walked onto the set for the bar scene in star wars.

Finally got a nice weather day and my thumb feeling healed up enough to take out the SMR and shoot off the winter blahs. Also to try out some paper cartridge load fabrication configurations I'm trying out. As, always, the SMR fires 100%, though I wasn't especially concentrated on aiming, just the loading, priming and firing techniques, so I've got no one-inch 100-yard group pics to post. At least I did generate some new thoughts on fabricating paper cartridges. But, thumb complained about too much use so have to give it a couple more days rest, recuperation and healing before next shooting.

I made a solid drum for my Short Virginia rifle. I need to finish the hooked breech.
I just am not fond of screw-in drums.
It is cross drilled and coned, ready for the nipple thread.
That's downright impressive.

I finished up my state association website additions and got a bunch of upcoming events posted.

If you are in Colorado or might be visiting or passing through then take a look and see if there is anything you might want to participate in.
