I just sat another 5 hours in a tree stand….

No deer were harmed during this Muzzleloading event….unfortunately.🤷‍♂️
I like your woods. I could sit for hours there alone with a flintlock rifle, powder horn and possibles bag and wouldn't mind if I didn't see anything. Of course I would be sitting on the ground with my back next to a tree. If I live and nothing happens and the good Lord willing I will turn 67 in a couple weeks. Forty years ago when I was in the army and using a knock off of a Baker stand I got a work out hugging a tree and pulling myself up, scratching up my arms wearing short sleeves before the weather got too cold. Then the doggone thing would tilt and nearly dump you out. Fortunately I never fell but you had to be careful how you would shift around in that thing. Still got it hanging in the garage.

Was finally able to solder the trigger guard i snapped right at the point where the curl ends into the front flat part tryin to slightly bend it. I've ever had much luck soldering copper pipes but was happy I got this done. It did take me a couple tries but you have to learn somewhere.

I also ordered a new trigger guard for my Jukar kentucky rifle to customize it a bit.

Went to the range today to help my buddy started shooting his newly built Kibler .40 SMR - he's hooked!

Also finished a powder horn for another friend's grandson for Christmas. Not anywhere near as nice as the ones that PathfinderNC makes, but I had fun making it and hope the young lad likes it! I sold him a CVA .32 squirrel rifle earlier this year for his grandson and his grandson loves shooting it. I told him I would make him a powder horn to go with the rifle along with a patch knife I gave to him. I like getting young folks started in ML shooting:thumb:

Sometime back I traded a bull horn for some misscellaneous items . In the package he had some home made cleaner in a spray bottle. I decided to clean my Ithaca Hawkin .After running a bare patch to see if there was any sign of rust , the patch came out spotless. I took a patch and with the spray saturated the patch. It had a strong smell of ammonia. I wet the barrel generously and then ran a tight dry patch down the barrel. When I pulled it out it had a slight trace of tan? I am wondering if it was from the brass end on the cleanig rod or the barrel? I didn;t see any at all on the patches until I used this cleaner? my barrel has an excellent bore although it is gray.

Shot my .62 cal smooth Loyalist Arms Sea Service pistol, .600 RB and 35 gr. 2F Swiss. A real hoot to shoot, though I don't yet quite have the hang of how or where to point this thing to get it to hit where I want. I don't think "sight picture" applies to a gun with no sights. 😄

Anyhow, tried various combinations of patching and wadding, and just for grins, a couple loads of buckshot and a couple loads of buck 'n ball. The buckshot patterned about 14 inches at seven paces, and it didn't seem to make much difference whether loaded shot over ball or ball over shot (wadded between).

Shot until I ran out of balls and good thing because about the same time I ran out of feeling in my trigger finger with the OAT being at 35 degrees F.
