This has actually been an ongoing process, but I finally put the finishing touches on my Pedersoli trade gun today. I’ve successfully removed all factory barrel and lock markings, refinished and toned the stock to give it some patina, swapped out the stock ramrod thimbles with the ribbed variety from Track, replaced the serpent side plate with a more historically accurate version, and tuned the lock to give faster ignition and improved trigger pull.

I noticed a small hairline crack just behind the barrel tang this afternoon, so I inlet the area just a smidgen to allow for expansion and forced some thin CA glue into the crack. I’m hopeful this will resolve the issue.

Steel you probably need to find the OD you want then bore it to size. Not being a smart A . Just what I have done in the past

Went to the Artesians Show in Carlisle Pa. Nice show, beautiful guns, parts and all the accessories. The drive was nasty 2 + hour each way in rain, fog, drizzle and traffic. When I was younger 2, 4, 6 hours was nothing, now at 76 its a long drive. Glad I can still do it.

Shot my Frontier flintlock this morning. It started out 40F but dropped to 15F over a couple of hours. Snowing now. I was glad I threw the capote on. Had a good outing until my fingers started to seize up.

Your cold weather shooting sessions always amaze me.

So, today I got to sorting and digging out all my ml ammo. Found two lots that I didn't know (remember!) That i had. Last time I shot my 45 i was having extreme difficulty loading and decided that there must be something wrong with my components. Today while going through my supply of 445s got looking at one lot that just didn't seem right. Brought out the calipers and started measuring. They were 453. And of course they were the ones that were a battle to load 🙄. I have a 454 mold that I used to cast for the 1860 revolver and somehow I mislabeled them as 445. 🙄

I planned to hunt or shoot a match tomorrow but things are hectic around here. My first great grand baby arrived yesterday afternoon....... 5 weeks early. He is doing great. 😍 still might get to the match.
