That's 1/8" hard felt from Duro-felt impregnated with homemade Bore Butter. A 9/16 punch works perfectly for a 54 caliber barrel.Hey @stubshaft! Looks like some fine neat work there! Would you mind sharing what the medium is that you are cutting?
Cheers, Pete
Steel you probably need to find the OD you want then bore it to size. Not being a smart A . Just what I have done in the pastShopped for parts. I have made my own ramrod ferrules and I wanted to make some for the scrap gemmer...can't find 1/16th steel in the dimensions I need...brass, copper, bronze, aluminum? no problem...just not steel. Also ordered new wedges...6 of em.
Hollow or solid rod stock?
looking at the photo... and calling the barrel muzzle west...the north pivot pin is bent...straighten the pivot.Somthin happened to my plains rifle, it's way off this morning , had to move the site all the way over an it's still not on target

Your cold weather shooting sessions always amaze me.Shot my Frontier flintlock this morning. It started out 40F but dropped to 15F over a couple of hours. Snowing now. I was glad I threw the capote on. Had a good outing until my fingers started to seize up.
