What Smoothbore would you buy if you had a nice Tax Return

Caywood does use walnut. I have seen a very pretty fusil of theirs in stump walnut. Most of these folks will use what you want--there was a period when 'everyone' wanted striped maple, correct or not. I still see a bunch of Caywood guns around this neck of the woods. Many in use by reenactors/living historians who otherwise are quite strictly PC. The Centermarks I have seen were OK. Have no experience with the other maker. Understand that many of the original French museum guns 'copied' by Centermark and Caywood are stocked in maple today (probably restocks). Originals were most likely French walnut, but most walnut used here today is American.

Pedersoli makes some good smoothbores. I have a Pedersoli Brown Bess Trade Rifle in .75 cal/12 bore with a lot of extras for sale if you might be interested. Olson

I don't think the gov't will refund all of the money they took from me last year. That'd be the only way I could afford anything more'n a Lyman Trade Gun. :shake:

If you have a nice tax refund, that means you have given the government a no interest loan for a year on what you are getting back. While you're at it, I would like such a loan as well. :winking:
True enough. However, the alternative of not giving them enough, then having to pony up at the end of the year is unpleasant in the extreme.
Besides, it's just money I'd blow on junk like food and utility bills if I got it piecemeal throughout the year.
I'd probably get the NSW trade gun if I didn't have to buy tires for my truck this time. But, the prospect of walking to work is less than appealing.
