Tonight I wanted to ask the forum to identify a BP pistol. However, when I tried to upload the JPG files I received the message, "The uploaded fille was not an image as expected". What is the problem?
Thanks,
Thanks,
Filename and extension have nothing to do with what type of file it is, and only MS Windows is dumb enough to base its decisions on the file extension. What is the name of the file including extension please
Actually filename and extension can have a lot to do with it. If it is not recognized it may not be allowed. There are protections sometimes in place to prevent someone from sending a file that has a script hidden in it to open a shell remotely to a server. In a lab I have done this before. So yes it can matter. Linux can allow you to do all kinds of interesting things with a file that a Windows machine will not catch.Filename and extension have nothing to do with what type of file it is, and only MS Windows is dumb enough to base its decisions on the file extension.
@82Tank - if you can't figure out the image type feel free to PM me and we may be able to get ya going... Though the easiest way to post a image is to view the image in a browser window (different one from where you are trying to post), right click on it, and pick "copy image"... Then just type your post and paste it in as if you've copy/pasted text. Your browser and the forum software will do the rest.
Copy - paste didn't work - at first. Apparently the problem was with the file sizes. I had taken the pictures with my cell phone at 12M, then edited out irrelevant portions. This left the full-pistol files at about 15Mb., which wouldn't upload. Tonight I used an imaging program to scale the images by 50%, reducing the same file to 929Kb, without significant loss in image quality. I was then able to successfully upload them. Thanks to all,Filename and extension have nothing to do with what type of file it is, and only MS Windows is dumb enough to base its decisions on the file extension.
