Had seven Ruger Old Armys. Sold five years back, was buying and trading
revolvers. Stupid of me. Short sighted. Several were high polish variations.
Did keep several for gifts. Was sure they would come back into production
and be available again. My favorites were blued ROA s. I seemed to shoot
better with the blued ones. At one time about ten years back ROA s were
400 bucks or less and plentiful. Sold a black powder collection. Regret
selling my black powder guns to the bone.

I regret getting rid of my first M/L, an H&R Huntsman unmentionable. It had a plastic barrel band that I hated, working swing shift in the power plant we often made crafty things on the side when things were slow. I found a piece of bronze and made a perfect copy of the barrel band complete with a set screw to hold it in place. I made it all with a file and sand paper after drilling the outline out, it probably took me at least a week to make.

I wanted a TC Hawken and sold the H&R to a guy at work for $60 to raise money for the TC. I have had at least 7 TCs, I have two now, but none of them were note worthy except for a kit gun I put together after the kit surfaced in my Dad's closet when he went to assisted living a couple of years ago.

I still think of that slender little H&R, I don't want to buy one though, having moved on to my own builds, all flintlocks.

The last gun I got rid of was a TC Hawken flintlock, so poorly made from the factory that the lock was held at the right level in the inlet with hot melt glue. Since that gun moved on I have only added to the collection, nothing has left.

I buy them and shoot them for a while and if they are not one of the guns I pick up and shoot regularly I let them go so someone else has the chance to enjoy them. I have 5 that are not for sale 32 and 36 Cherokees, 32 and 36 Senecas and a 54 renegade that I hope to take a deer with at some point. Someone recently looked at my 32 Seneca while I was shooting and I let him fire it a few times. He asked if I would sell it and I said it would take a lot for me to think about it he said name your price I said $2,000.00 and I still own it.

The one I miss most was my 8 bore, I owned the thing 3 separate times, finally the last young man that bought kept it. The other would be a H&R 54 ,it had a custom barrel made by a retired trooper out of Alabama or Arkansas ,that thing was dead nuts on with the old lee ashcan slug

I've never sold a black powder gun but I do regret buying one because it was/is way too nice and should be in a museum or owned by someone who appreciates it more than I do.

My first muzzle loader was a Dixie.45 Kentucky rifle kit. I bought and built it in high school. While going to college, I sold it because I needed some extra money. Kicking myself ever since.

I put together my second muzzleloader, a .45 TC Cherokee kit. Spent 40 hours on that little rifle. Shot a couple of deer and maybe a coyote with it and then sold it
to my best friend cheap just
so he would get into black powder. That was back in the 1980’s. He shot it for awhile and then went to a CVA unmentionable. I have asked to buy it back and have offered him a trade but doesn’t want to get rid of it. Hate seeing
it not being used and enjoyed..........Greg

Found an original Civil War Springfield in an antique store. Fixed it up, good shooter. Wish I had it back.

My biggest regret was selling a .62 smooth rifle built by Wayne Watson (yes, the same gentleman that built Killdeer” for “The Last of the Mohicans”). It had a octagon swamped barrel made by Robert Paris & Son, beautifully carved curly maple and engraved. I couldn’t bear to carry it in the woods for fear of messing it up. Sold it to colleague and have regretted the decision ever since.

For me it wasn't a whole gun, but a Toledo Arms 12 gauge drop in barrel for the Renegade. Stupid move...

My Cookson fowler. Loved the doglock and used it ( the musket) as a talking point regarding Albany/Ft. Orange as a center for trade.

Had one of those revolver rifles from Cabelas. Semi accurate out to 50 yards. Plain fun to shoot.

24g NW Trade gun Clay Smith built for me back in the early 80s. Got it real cheap Clay lived a few blocks from me I helped him in his shop off and on I paid for parts he built it as a trade for my help in the shop.

I had a deerstalker combo .50 and .32. Sold 25 yrs ago +/- cuz it had a plastic stock which I hated. Tied for first was a CVA mnt pistol that shot into a quarter at 25 yds EVERY shot. Teid for fist the dbl 10GA pedersoli I sold as it was not regulated. That was before I knew you could take a file and move center pattern aound! I would like all of em back

In my 50 year association with black powder I have never sold any. Now at my stage in life I'm trying to find a way
to take them with me ???????? Selling would be like selling the wife or kids. Just won't happen, not on my watch.
