Going with the sling bar. Makes sense since I really want a historically correct piece. Thanks for everyone's input. I just shipped the barrel and lock to the builder today. I'll update here when I have any more info or questions.

Well, the first piece of walnut had a big ole worm hole in it. Dang. I just received an update & here's some pics of the new stock and progress.

Very well done...exciting! I think after centuries, worm hole stocks were the rule, not the exception. Very well done, very professional!

This is one I made in the early 1990’s. The lock came from Dixie Gun Works. (Unfortunately the tip of the sear has worn and won’t lock any longer)
