What they say about "Smokaine" must be right. One sniff and you're hooked for life. About the "Pole Lathe", it is easy to make and works very well. It doesn't get away from you and since you can easily learn to shear-cut on it, your work comes off of it glass smooth and doesn't need sanding.

pole lathe;

Now you got me hooked for shure. What in the world is a pole lathe?

kinda new to all this but am getting really involved. It is addictive.

Sorry about the new post but wanted to say that I googled the pole lathe and figured it out. I will have to figure out how to bring up my old post and edit it though? :hmm:

Now, will I be a real man and make a pole lathe or wimp out and go to harbor freight.

Am trying hard to convince miss evie (wife) that I need a lathe to turn the wood so I can make my own powder horn plugs. She told me to cut the round end off a baseball bat and whittle it down with my pocket knife. Don't know if she was convinced when I ruined my knife on the aluminum bat or not. I think she is weakening.

Will let you know how it turns out lather.
