Looking for a place to buy real black powder in or near SW Ohio. All they sell around me is Pyrodex. I used it and it works.. I'd like to compare it to black powder though.

Join the NMLRA and buy it from their powder magazines, barely an hour's drive from you.

I don't know if there is a place in Cincinnati but I would think that surely there would be in a city of that size. They must have a Bass Pro and/or a Cabela's. If you check either of these stores, be sure to talk only to the manager of the gun department because often the sales people do not know where the black powder is kept or even if they have it. However, as Trent said, Friendship is not that far from you and the magazine is open during the Spring and Fall shoots. They have the best prices anywhere (for members only) and they have almost any brand or granulation you might want. If you are not as member of NMLRA, you need to join. Then there is Deer Creek in Waldron, Indiana as Many Kaltch mentioned. I have bought a lot of powder from them and their prices have always been very reasonable.

Thanks for the suggestions though. I'm thinking of joining NMLRA. Seems like there's some neat benefits to being a member.

You might try Woodbury Outfitters in Jeffersonville, OH. If you ever travel I-71 north, I know for a fact Fin, Fur, and Feather does in Ashland, OH. DANNY

Suggest the Internet for a place to buy real black powder. A couple of clicks, wait a few days, the brown truck slows down in front of your house, and BAM, a box of real black powder is on your front porch. My last order was from PowderInc. Grafts is another source. There are options, and it is not difficult.

Yeah I just hate paying double what the powder costs lol..I can drive a little ways cheaper.

NMLRA has been mentioned, you can get it during the week - call the office, place your order and pick it up...
Must be a member...
I'm jealous as your close proximity as a member gives you access to an unbelievable range to shoot on..

Woodbury is closed. I have been told that Old English Outfitters in Vandalia carries black powder but haven't been that way in several years so you might want to call them before going there. Not aware of anyone else in the area you're asking about who does carry it or even have much in the way of traditional black powder firearms in stock.

Yeah I thought Woodbury closed, but wasn't sure. I will call them and see if they have real black powder.
