Cabela's in Mitchell, South Dakota the only place
in the state that I know about for the real stuff.

If the subs are ok then the gun shop in Ft Pierre
has them all. Teton River Traders http://www.tetonrivertradersgunshop.com/

If it would help, I have two new cans of Goex black
powder in FFg that you could have.

For your new fowler?

Yes, it's for my fowler - I bought 1 1/2 lbs up - and I am down to about 1/2 lb. I was just curious - I can probably have my buddy bring some up from TX when he comes up in 10 days - hope I don't run out by then! :v

I live in Sioux Falls and I have to drive to Mitchell to buy Goex from Cabelas, none of the gun shops in Sioux Falls carry black powder, just substitutes.

alrayg1954: Welcome to the Forum and thank you for posting the information.
It's folks like you that keep adding to our knowledge base. :)

zonie :)

early spring i ordered 25 lbs of goex from Track of the Wolf, decent price and it was here in about 3 days

Tinker - I thought I had made arrangements with a buddy to bring up BP - however, looks like that is falling through - are there any places up around Bismarck that sell it? I shot my last bit of powder up this evening. :(

Not that I know of but I can say that I ever looked for
it in North Dakota.

You might PM “barebackjack” from this board, he is
from North Dakota. Or just re-post the question for
North Dakota.

I still have the two new cans of Goex black powder in
FFg that you could have.
I would be pleased to help any way I can.

Tinker - I will keep it in mind. I am going to try to exhaust all options first.

I am running into two problems - everywhere I look I have to order 25 lb cases - which I would shoot up in time but it is more than I need. The other problem is that I believe it has to be delivered to a physical address with an adult present - where we are at in SD (summer camp) we probably have a physical address - we live in an old farmhouse - but we are at the end of a dirt road and UPS would have a hard time finding us.

Normally, we have our packages delivered in town -I will ask - but not sure they want 25 lbs sitting around - even if it would only be a few hours.

Why they make BP so difficult to obtain - doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

:(

KHickham,
If you can wait maybe a week you can order
on line from www.grafs.com. No minimum # needed,
but of course the more you get the cheaper it is,do
to the $20 HAZMAT fee.So if you order say 10#
would make the price $2 more per pound. This still
keeps the price around $14 per pound. That cheaper
that I can get it locally from the gun shop I
deal with. GRAFS has been in bussines for 50yrs.
Hope this is of help.

BP is a low grade explosive, and they make it difficult to obtain to keep it out of the hands of terrorists, and other irresponsible people. That is a joke, of course, since criminals steal most of what they want or need to do their work. Break ins to Construction sites to steal explosives occur with wome regularity, to the point where many companies are now using a liquid mix, and no longer use any form of dynamite. There are also recipes for making your own C4. And, gasoline is not regulated at all, and was the explosive used to blow up the Murrah building in Oklahoma City.

So, while I can give you the reason " why ", Don't for a minute think I believe this is anything more than a " feel good " measure by government, and a further attempt to drive civilians away from owning and shooting firearms as recreation, or self defense. Congress merely looks the other way( that includes the so-called Pro-gun members) while the bureaucrats write these regulations and then enforce them as law. The fact that not one Congressman or Senator has introduced legislation to repeal these restrictions on Black Powder speaks volumes about what they really think about gun owners. The same can be said about the Lautenberg Amendment, that imposes a lifetime disability( prohibition) to owning guns for anyone even accused of domestic violence.

Well, I broke down and ordered some powder from Grafs - thanks for the heads up - I ordered 9 lbs of 3F Graf and 1 lb of 4F Goex. That should last me a couple of months.
