I was once given a flint wallet but gave up on it quickly. Found it was more fuss and bother than I considered worthwhile.
Now I just keep two or three loose in the bottom of my shooting bag.
Who actually finds them useful in a shooting/possible bag?

I use a flint wallet in my hunting bag. It holds 8 flints and keeps them from rattleing around loose when I'm out roaming the hunting woods. I make enough noise without the added clatter. :)

Like you i just carried the flints in the bottom of my bag.Last year i was given a flint wallet that also had a pocket for tools, i set it up and it has been useful keeping everything in one place. Over the years i have found that i have rarly had to change flint on an outing, i always check the flint in the gun before going out and unless i do alot of shooting i may only change 1 time. When going out for a week or more the wallet is much more useful.

I beleave in keeping things simple and feel these are in th worthless pile as are those loading blocks plus many other things

I carry a bunch of flints along with extra jaw leather in a little deerhide drawstring bag. Simple and effective. ;)

I started using a wallet after I cut myself on the sharp edge of one loose in my bag. Mine is a small one that carries three flints, and also my hunting license.

I use one. Holds three flints and has a separate pocket for small tools/jag/leather etc.

I don't use a ball bag for my flint guns, preferring to let the balls roll around loose in the bottom of the pouch.

I have a flint wallet that carries 8 flints for each of my guns. I just like to make sure that I have flints with me. It nestles in the bottom of the shooting bag and does not get in the way.

I also have a tool roll for each pouch with a turnscrew, ball puller, pliers, spring vise and tommy bar. I can and have had to take a lock apart while in the field to make it work right (usually somebody else's lock).

Agree. But, in the field 'stuff' can happen. Time or two over the years I have discovered my flint was gone. :shocked2: When hunting that is not the time to learn how to mine and knap flint. A couple pieces of spare leather can also be handy.

I've got one that Curt Lyles made for me from squirrel hide that I like real well. It holds 3 flints an several tools and folds up to a small little package. I just put it in whatever bag Im using at the time.

Ball and shot in my shot bag and any patching if for a rifle. Flints and turnscrew and such in a flint "wallet" in my POCKET.

I have, and use, a flint wallet. Mine is designed to hold three flints, each in its own little pocket and a multi purpose flint tool in its own pocket. The whole folds nicely and fits in either my bag or in my pocket. I like using it because it keeps my flints from rubbing and banging against each other in the bottom of my bag and also keeps me from cutting my finger on one of them as I rummage in my bag. :cursing: Those little suckers are sharp. I like them that way and my wallet keeps them that way....safely.

Same here, simple is always good.

Each of my bags has a very small flint wallet that holds two flints and a short turnscrew fitted to the gun that the bag accompanies. No damaged flints, no cut fingers, less to sort thru (one item instead of three).

I have one that holds six flints and a sort-of wallet as part of my shooting wallet that holds four. Work well enough.
