Look how their made....Tube shaped barrel, plywood or plastic stock, plastic furniture....painted steel.... :shake: Chinese quality with an American price.....Embarrassing.

It probably costs more to buy a box of bullets for one of those than it does to manufacture it. :youcrazy:
I agree and so will everyone.
Havent seen a mass produced sidekick that is much better with their quality ...
At least Knight is 100% made in USA..

That's a crummy statement to make. You know nothing. If you want to get insulting take it to private topics. :cursing:
My apologies, I called the NMLRA office when I wanted to host my ML match.
If you’ve been to Friendship - 7 years. I suspect you must have witnessed archery, knife throwing, basket making, etc in the primitive area? There is much more there than just shooting. If it was left up to primitive shooting only - their doors would already be shut from lack of support. To me, they have new blood running the ship in a much better direction.
There website photos seem to duplict what’s going on - one never knows another ones interest.

You’ve got the right attitude toward ML.
Too bad you’ve never been to Friendship- neither have many negative folks here. It would certainly change your opinion.

Sorry it not a crummy statement, if your area rep is not active the Regional Coordintator needs to be called , if that does not work, then call chairman of the Fielf Reps. That is the way it is suppose to work.
Michael
NMLRA Region 7 coordinator.
PS, if you have question or need help, call me.

Thank you.

To be honest, I've never been to friendship because its so far away. That's the only reason.

If I lived closer, I might find a way to go. Then again, I've been in the Phoenix valley for almost 8 years. I've known about the state shoot at Ben Avery for at least the last 5 and I havent been there either.

Maybe I'm just too lazy, or too stingy with what little free time and money life gives me. :idunno:

As I stated in the beginning of this, I am not a member because of money, or lack thereof.

No one is being personally insulted, a business/organization is being criticized. If an organization is doing a poor job, calling attention to this fact is NOT an insult. How is this any different than the criticisms about goods, vendors & services common on this site?

It's an opinion that's not based on anything to back it up. It's a statement of opinion posited as a statement of fact. Most criticism here is true criticism, with statements in support of criticism.

It appears the person posting had personal experience used to make a comparison. Just because someone dislikes what was said in no way makes it a personal insult - still a criticism of the organization...

Mike has a vested interest, so it's expected for him to be upset, even though the criticism isn't directed towards him personally.

That's also one more problem to chalk up.

Wow O wow did this original post get some comments!!
Why are you or aren't you a member of the National Muzzleloading Rifle Association?
I have been a member of the NMLRA and NRA for years. I did drop the NMLRA for a while when I had some personal issues. My feelings are..... If one likes something, support it if you can afford to do so. The NMLRA has a fine magazine and the Friendship range is to be envied by all who enjoy a good range. I also enjoy participating in the Neb and Iowa Territorials. As far as the (unmentionables)....... It would be nice if they did not exist, but they do. I was at a Territorial shooting my personally made flinter when a friend wanted to show me his umentionables, which he did. It was interesting, only because I am ignorant, but no thanks!

There are a few NMLRA chapter clubs in Texas, but being a big state, I guess it depends where you live in relation to those clubs. They are listed in Muzzle Blasts.

Yes, there are a few but none near me that I know of, none near me listed in Muzzle Blasts. :idunno:

All is good.
I support all who shoot a ML as defined by the NMLRA/NRA. I have and hope to continue introducing muzzleloaders to as many people as I can, from the historical side and shooting side. The only time I ever got upset with someone over a ML was when they asked me about shooting a smokeless ML. I basically referred to the NMLRA/NRA rules and that was it.
Unfortunately, I do not like the Elitist attitude of those who wish muzzleloading to be as they define it - IMO, if you were going to be that way then you need to be that way with everything including the best rifles original and customs money can buy-settling for nothing less.
I think there’s room for everyone and one never knows these days who you might convert.
As for shooting, I just enjoy everything that it’s about (especially the people) at my local level that I host a match annually at the national level and even international level.
Shoot straight and God Bless.

It's not an "elitist attitude" if it is held by the majority.

I object to Knight and Remington to be as They define it. They didn't exist 40 years ago. On this board, we all agree that xxx things are not traditional and fall well outside the definitions and purview of this particular forum. I personally feel they have no soul.

There are other forums that allow xxx things to be promoted. You couldn't give me one, and I'm distressed that MB allows/promotes them. One reason I'm no longer a member of NMLRA.

I wasn't going to respond because I feel like I have sort of deserted the cause. I lived near Friendship for about seven years and was a very dedicated member for a long time. But, NMLRA has forgotten it's roots and drifted. I am one of those opposed to the acceptance of modern inlines. We see much on the web site and in the magazine that has nothing to do with muzzle loading. e.g. I once opened the web site and was greeted by a picture of an archer. Wats going on with that? My club has been trying for years to just get a visit from the area field rep. Not even a response. :cursing: If the association is not interested in it's members and charter clubs how can it be expected that we will be interested in the association? :idunno: The magazine, despite some recent changes just does not hold interest like it used to. And the magazine is the only contact many have with the organization. Travel to the big shoots is out of the question for many. I don't believe there has been a territorial shoot in the Arkansas/Missouri region since I conducted one in the 1980s. Just yesterday I saw a Facebook post by a dealer going to the Friendship shoot taking his archery equipment to sell. Archery again? I have been an on and off member for many years. Will probably rejoin again one day but just do not feel motivated at this time. I think NMLRA is killing itself by not sticking to its founding principals. Sad. :(

Feeling a little guilty about my current lapse in membership I went to the NMLRA website today. Not happy I did. Opening picture was of a woman with a modern breech loading shotgun. :cursing: Maybe someday. But, I'm not inclined to rejoin right now. :td:

Though that pic doesn't look like any BP cartridge guns I've seen, I'm not even an amateur there and the title did say Black Powder Cartridge match or something of the like..Still BP, some shoot BP cartridge shotguns too. I'd guess diversity is the name of the game? :idunno:
