When I got ready to leave for the event, the Weather man was talking in the single digits. When I got there, it might have been 10 degrees, and it had warmed up a bunch. There were only about ten camps since the weather was pretty rough. There were maybe 30 peopple that shot the first day. I was perfect until that darned ring! It gets me every time. I had my diamond shelter ready, but the weather was too much for me to attempt a tarp shelter this time out. I went to the cabin for the night. Reports were of between 3 and 0 last night, but it warmed up some today. It was around twenty! There were more shooters today and I was in fourth or fifth when I left. I did not stick around to see who won because I wanted to see the race.
It was a small group but a good time. I got some more good tips on my outfit and had some good discussions about some of the same issues that turn into wars here. Some how they work a lot better when we are standing there looking at each other. I was told they would not run me off at the woods walk next weekend if I at least change the sights on my beginner flinter. If I get time to do that, next weekend will be my first woods walk. All together a promising beginning to the season! The Bullseye woods walk is next weekend for folks near the St. Louis area.
