Been sitting on a shelf for 15 years gathering dust, The Rifle Shoppe parts assembled by someone else. Unfired, unmounted, in the white. Will require fine tuning to your build.

TRS wants $400,

$500 shipped USPS small priority with no waiting.

The Rifle Shoppe, Inc. - German 1740 Prussian Potzdamn Musket (594)

You want proof I'm more Hessian than Nigerian? Sointenly!

BUT STORY, I BUILD 'MERICAN FIRELOCKS NOT GERMAN ONES!!!
Then this is just the ticket if you're going to join Mad Anthony Wayne and chase Indians around in the forest.

William Guthman's book "U.S. Army Weapons 1784-1791, page 47 shows a post-RevWar musket assembled with parts and a US surcharged 1740's Germanic lock.

Is the lock still available?

In response to some questions, I can't tell the difference between this and my Todd Gerding built / TRS parts 1740 Potsdam.

This post for inspiration only.

Found the second of two of these locks, built by the same guy at the same time. This project has languished for over a decade but gives you an idea of a non-Prussian Germanic musket
(see p. 116 of Neuman's tome Battle Weapons of the American Revolution: George C. Neumann: 9781931464499: Amazon.com: Books , although I think what really pushed me down the rabbit hole was something in a Herman Historica catalog about 15 years ago).

Donor Mikoru Bess with a reshaped pitch and comb (yes, I worked directly from the HH photo, weird as it looks) that had an ugly wrist repair, my plans were to do a copper sheet cover over that after inletting the lock.

I read a story when the continental congress voted on what our national language would be The English language won over the German language by just one vote. I can imagine how different history would be if we were a German speaking people. Semper Fi.

Something else that was left out of our glorious history lessons, is that when Congress was to vote on what the official language of our new country would be. The English language beat out the German language by only 1 vote. If y'all recall the 2 most numerous New World settlers, especially here in Pa. where the 1st Nations Capital was, Philadelphia, were English and Dutch, who spoke and currently speak a form of German. Military history would have need so much more interesting if the vote went the other way. Semper Fi
