No muzzleloading for me today.
But I did speak with a member of my gun club after noticing he was shooting BP. In the 25+ years I have been a member at the club I cannot recall anyone shooting BP except me. He had an Uberti wheel gun, and was using Pyrodex. We discussed different chamber seal methods, accuracy etc.
Nice to know at least someone else is making smoke.

Well I said I’d show some pictures of my pathetic shooting today with my 26” barreled smoothbore ( aka slim) 24 gauge is not a year old yet .was a nice day to shoot the range had kids day so lots of mom and dads and kids enjoying shooting .Our club does this once a year and have a barbecue and make about the kids shooting and having fun.So I shot 25 yards and 50 same load same patch and my shiny new balls .Dont laugh to hard .enjoy By the way I’m Rowling my gun so I shot to the left any suggestions on how to fix that would be appreciated.thanks wobblin Walt .
Very cool bud , glad ya had fun ...man ! I need to shot BAD !! Been too long . Now ....when I ain't shot in a while I REALLY got to concentrate on that front sight and the slow squeeze !! I'll start slinging them round ball to the right until I get some shots under my belt , always happens .... " front sight , front sight , front sight ....SQEEZE slow !!! BAM !! Center hit !! Once I get back into it , lots of shootin sessions , close together ...its not a problem ...but when I lapse again ...happens again ! ...go figure ! A lot of movement and flash goin good n up there near yer face ... See ifn I can find my bullseye pic with Mikes Fusil I built him ....that was SO great ! Shocked me !!! Thanks .Rob I’ll give that a try and myself I shoot close to a foot to the left
Till I’ve shot a bunch then I managed to get them close to center .I think I’m gonna put my wooden flint in and practice dry fire ing again but with slim this time .Slims trigger pull is very light so may contribute to my problem, guess it means more practice shooting .😂Sometimes I think a guy would be better off with just one smoothbore .Oh well the guns shoot good it’s the nut behind the wheel that’s the problem few hundred more practice shots should do it .

Ordered a Kibler SMR on ye olde credit card, taking advantage of a $200 sign on bonus for spending in the first couple of months. I'll pay the amount later this week when a check clears and save some money.
For anyone wondering, I checked with them and lead time is 1-3 weeks.

Turned my Grandson into a white smoke junkie. After shooting my Pietta 58 he had to have it. He got 5 tins of #10 caps, extra cylinder, powder flask and measure, capper, holster 3f powder , stand alone cylinder loader about 350 round balls and a carry box to put everything in thrown in by old Grandpa. He did alright 👍

Whoops. Made the mistake of checking the quick ship kits, ordered that walnut one and asked to cancel the plain maple order.

I hate to make more work for him and his team by cancelling, but that walnut wood was speaking to me!

Plus, it has a photo with the pup, massive plus for a dog lover like me!

Built a a hawk target from scrap wood for our 4-H black powder team. The younger kids have fun practicing with the mouse hawks!
Went threw my range box and stuff and I’m ready to go again and see how I do with slim. You know what the wish old man said practice makes perfect so eventually maybe I’ll be able to hit something.lol

sprained my knee last week by Sunday I couldn't walk to the can without a cane good drugs and heat and yesterday i could move around the house without it went out to my shop and cleaned up the knife that the kid has been building. cast a true german silver finger guard and soldered it on then draw filed it then cut the first scale. When he got home I had him take the scale down flat (the side against the tang) on the belt sander I don't take any chances breathing Antler dust after 3 bouts of covid I'll ruff cut the other scale today. been trying to teach him to make knifes but he still gets in to much of a hurry when designing them and is still impatient when I'm trying to explain what he needs to do

Ok! Now I get where "Gunpa" comes from. I'm somewhat of one myself. Hat off. 😀

You are giving him just what he needs. Opportunities to make mistakes. Just a knife, but life lessons too.

I replaced the sear spring on an old CVA mountain rifle that broke on me last week while attempting to shoot it.. At the same session I was trying to get a old navy arms Kentucky rifle sighted in and was just about there when the rear sight fell off. Someone did a poor job at filing the dovetail on it. I replaced the sight with a new one. I bought these in a small collection and finally getting around to using them. Both .45's are from the mid 1970's. Maybe if time allows I can shoot them today.
