I did it and it works well.
Blackie has a dandy moving picture film on the You Tube regarding this.
All is magic when setup correctWonder how the fouling works back to the grooves without a pathway . . . magic I reckon .

Yes, but hard to control. The flat spot on the pin is going to give you a bump. Best to do it by hand. Only a very slight ring is needed, if at all. I have rems I've done and others I have not and don't really notice a difference but I usually only shoot 3, maybe 4 cylinders. No binding but the pin will get hard to pull.You could chuck it up in a drill or drill press and cut the grooves with a triangular file.
