The bore from the factory was good but not great. Bore Lapping / polishing and Crown polishing before and after... Not sure if these pictures are enough to tell the difference. With my reading glasses I see the difference. Can you see the change? Why: Crown, Easier to start... Bore, Easier to clean, Easier to load..
Less fouling build up leading to better accuracy with less need to swab even in dryer conditions... This may be the final bit of tuning this pistol needs for best performance. More range time will tell. If you are wondering if this pistol had a unusual amount of problems. No, just typical tuning was needed. Could I have shot this pistol without any of these upgrades? Yes, it worked decently well. Will these upgrades lead to more points in matches? I have no doubt the increased ease of use and comfort will gain points and the accuracy has been upgraded with less likely point of impact shift. Possible point of impact shift due to wedge loosening and wood compression is most likely after a full disassembly with newly tightend screws How many rounds before a confident final sight adjustment and consistent point of impact can be expected? By the first hundred rounds it should be very stable for another five hundred rounds maybe. In my experience but it will change over time even if you don't touch it and must be considered for possible sight adjustment at any future time. ..nsp

Nice fast twist rifling & looks deeper like quality originals would have.
For the retail price the bore should have already been in premium shape.
lapping in a choke towards the muzzle is nice winning touch :thumb:

I agree. My taper Lapping was mostly polishing with JB bore compound as this bore was good from the start. The polishing has shown to make for easier loading today at the range...nsp

Group on the first target today may indicate a change in sight adjustment adjustment is needed . After bore lapping or even light polishing that is expected. That would be 3 clicks too high on my Bo-Mar sighted pistols...nsp

Nice original Uncle Miltie !
If you have taken photos of the bore & lock internals consider posting them.

A couple pictures of the bore: they are not very good photos. Bore is a bit over 11mm, I use a .445 ball and .015 patch.

50yds. Group is a bit low but the score is still decent. 18gr. Swiss. Final results: It deserves to be a first line Traditional Caplock for the worthy. First pistol I have found to equal my custom DeHass barreled LePage. Why not just switch pistols if they are equal? Equal is not worth getting used to a new pistol. It would have to be consistently better to become first choice...nsp

Here are a few photos of the lock.
Beautiful workmanship, thanks for sharing !
The fit, finish & tempering on fine European pistols like yours insures they
will last numerous lifetimes in hands of good caretakers like yourself.
