    Lyman BLACK POWDER HANDBOOK

There is not an ISBN # on the book just an item and UPC #. If I am not mistaken I have even seen a 3rd edition at Barnes and Noble. I think it had an expanded BP cartridge section, but I don't really understand the need to expand on making a paper cartridge anyway.

    Ball bag

They can be made by wetting the leather and then jamming in a bunch of rice(think I read to use rice). Then once everything is dry just knock out the rice.

    Flintlock touch hole

I own a GPR and have not had a complaint about Lyman. I had the rear sight screw split on me, and they sent me two replacements for free. Lady might have been having a bad day at home and brought it to work.

    GPR max loads

My best target load for my GPR is 80 grs. behind a roundball. Otherwise I have to aim high and have the ball drop in. :m2c:

    Patching Material questions?

I have been using old t-shirts in my 1803 Harpers but I was wondering and looking for a better patching material. Probably going to head out to Jo-Anne fabrics and buy some fabric by the yard. What kind of material are you guys using for patches? How thick? The cotton t-shirts don't seem to...

    Bullet question

For some reason I have not gotten good results with the Lee REAL bullet in my Mississippi Rifle, but the Lyman GPR shoots it very well. So to me it would seem that you would just have to try it. I found that it requires about 10 less grains of powder in my Plains Rifle than a normal .530...

    Building the 1792 Contract Rifle

Thanks for all the replies and leads on information. With the holiday upon us, I haven't been able to get at my computer. In doing some minor research on my own I was coming to the conclusion that not having a nose cap wouldn't be right. One of the things that was leading me down that road...

    Building the 1792 Contract Rifle

I just bought Track of the Wolf's 1792 contract rifle kit. The lock still has not come in but I am hoping to start on it soon. Anyway here is my question to y'all. Do I put a nose cap on this rifle? What size should it be? On the website the drawing shows the rifle with no nose cap, and in...
