    Cleaning my percussion

Also, in my experience if it is not removed periodicity and cleaned and a little lube applied it may seize in place and not be an option if ever needed.

The screw below the nipple is the clean out screw, though not always used and not necessary, it is their so as to have a straight access to the (flash hole) in the chamber.

Well with all things that I can be, I believe in the idea of buy it once and be done. quality over quantity as they say. But my LEE single stage press has been ticking for three years and still going.

.45 ball in .50 cal with thicker patch?

I was digging around a few boxes, and I have around 150 .45 balls but I only own a .50 cal, would there be any issues with loading the .45 ball in the .50 and using a thicker patch to make up the difference?

Marvin Wotring and The Mounatin Rifle Shop

My opinion is probably a little bias, but I don’t know of any other college in the country that has as much respect and pride in their mascot as they do their team than WVU.

Marvin Wotring and The Mounatin Rifle Shop

I don’t know how many WV locals are on here, but I thought I would pass on this information. I first met Marvin two years ago while on the search for black powder, as many of you know it is like the new black gold, and in some areas getting very hard to come by. I ended up meeting one of the...

    Very interestin 2" bore muzzleloader

I did wonder that myself when I read the article, the best thought I came up with was with shooting that amount of powder less rifling allowed for easier loading of a second shot and easier cleaning. Perhaps that is a question for the creator.

    Very interestin 2" bore muzzleloader

My mistake, but with that in mind it may be time to make one with a full 2" bore or would that fall in the catagory of the "punt gun"?

    Deep vs shallow rifling?

This particular Charles Daly that I have came from Italy, it was made by Investarms. I believe it is the older version of what cabelas is now selling as "their Hawkens".

    Deep vs shallow rifling?

Well, now that I have opened such a can of worms, does anyone know of a source of information on what type of rifling a 1984 Charles daly .50 cal 1:48 would most likely have?

    Deep vs shallow rifling?

Zonie, thank you for such an informed reply I think you covered the basics of what I was wondering and then some.

    Deep vs shallow rifling?

Reddog thank you for the reply, right now I was just trying to understand the general difference between the purpose of shallow and deep rifling. The different styles of rifling you mentioned is an entirely (new to me) subject but one that you have struck my curiosity in. I would greatly enjoy...

    Deep vs shallow rifling?

I've been doing a little research on different barrels and I am wondering what the main difference is between deep and shallow rifling? I was hoping maybe someone with a little more knowledge or experience could lend some light on the difference or purpose of the two?
