What kind of rocks do you use in your flinters?

Hey all.. Was just thinking about trying some of those amber french flints. And was wondering what ya'all thought about them? Normally I stick with the english flints and have pretty decent luck with them. Just picked up a dozen from the "Track of the wolf". But have heard some good things...

    3F or 2F

What caliber are you shooting? A .50 cal should be able to do better with a higher charge easily using 3f. :imo: I wonder how loose your ball and patch are in you shooter. Maybe you need to try a larger ball or thicker patch, or both. Sometimes ya just gotta tinker to find the right fit for...

Yep.. a couple of us here in Ia have done the same as what papa bear mentioned. File down original sight to the barn type mount. Then we ordered a new front sight from dixie gunworks.. part #ep1735 which is a dovetail sight. Took this sight to my welding buddy and had him build this one up to...

    I made the purchase

It's a small light that is used in night fishing, and fits in the top of a night bobber. It can be bought seperately however (about $2). The diameter is roughly 1/8 of an inch.. so very small.. and cheap as well. They also seem to last quite a while. I've had one for over a year now and it's...

    I made the purchase

Sounds like you have a good starting place for a load for your shooter. Instead of taking out the flash hole liner I use a a bobber light and just drop it down the barrel. Its very small so will work in the smallest of calibers and best of all their cheap and easy to come by. I buy mine at...

    Sunday shooting report..

Just did a quick lookup on the internet... cva bobcat must be pretty new.. and reasonably priced for a sidelock enty level.. I think your right on target with 60 grain of goex fff. I have a t/c hawkin flinter, with same twist and can move up as high as 65 grain before loosing my accuracy...
