    JB weld or Acriglass?

You can also drill the hole out and glue a dowel in. Then drill a new screw hole. The glued dowel will also help hold the crack together. Carpenters glue works well for this. Hank in WV

    Percussion Ignition Problem

You might try bumping the butt of the gun after pouring in the powder, but before loading the ball. This will shake some powder into the drum and under the nipple. Worth a try. Good luck with the new gun. Hank in WV

    Yay! Parts are here!!

Hey Pcrum, You might want to resist inletting that butt plate for awhile. Everything revolves around where the barrel and breachplug sit. Then inlet the lock and trigger. Then you can determine the lop for the butt plate. At least that's the way I do it. Have fun and good luck. Hank in WV

Drilling Ram Rod Hole in Stock

It's been suggested to use beeswax or soap to lubricate the drill. Wouldn't this make it impossible to later stain the stock? The first hole I drilled, I clamped my stock to the workbench and it felt like I was going to turn it over but was afraid to lube it. Thanks. Hank in WV

Stock staining methods and finished results

Hey Lone Wolf, I've used Tung Oil (not Formbys') several times with very good results. It's easy to apply also. I mix 50/50 the first time with turpentine. Afterwards i just rub it in by hand. If you rub it in until it feels dry each time, you don't have to sand between coats. Hank in WV

    inlays

I guess I'd better post before I'm kicked of this forum. I'm in the process of building my first ML (with mixed results) and have a question about brass inlays. Do you cut them in and install permanately, file down to the wood surface, and then finish the wood in the normal manner? if so...
