    Who has this pistol?

Go with the smallest caliber possible for competitive target shooting. Many serious International shooters use .36 where ever they can.

    Another History No. 1

I also use 15 grns. of Cream of Wheat over the powder and load with a drop tube - sorry I forgot to mention that.

    Another History No. 1

The .362 balls recommended by the manufacturer cannot be found at any known source to me in this country. I have even seen threads on European forums with people looking for them. So...I took a guess (after consulting some of the folks here) and ordered some .358 balls from TOW along with .015...

    So I found a .36 Underhammer pistol

My Feinwerkbau History #1 36 cal. loves 12 grains of Swiss 3F. It is the most accurate handgun that I own (BP or not).

    Cleanest burning bp?

I know the OP was asking about the cleanest burning BP, but I just thought I would throw in a comment about 777 as he is currently burning Pyro and might be interested in a MUCH better BP substitute.

    Cleanest burning bp?

I shoot Swiss 3F and 777 2F depending on the gun/caliber. The Swiss is very clean (for BP), but the 777 seems to be even a bit cleaner, and about the same load/velocity. I think both of these propellants are superior to anything out there. I know many will disagree with me, but that has been...

Wow - the NRA Museum has a document listing serial numbers and dates of manufacture on a whole slew of guns including ALL of the Colts. 1862 POCKET POLICE F-1500 49000 57300 4801 1/80 9/81 and skip even no. http://www.nramuseum.org/media/940941/serialization-date%20of%20manufacture.pdf

1851 Colt made in late 70's

I just bought a Colt 1862 Pocket Police .36 cal. on Gunbroker last night. It is hard to tell from the pictures, but it looks like the serial # is 55557. Any idea of the time frame of manufacturing?

    New Uberti 1860 Army Review

I was shooting 2 handed. I will try using some Swiss 3F and increasing the powder quantity a bit. Not sure if that would have any effect on windage. It is certainly worth a try though. Trying to file the notch in the hammer sight is a little beyond the scope of what I am willing to do. By...

If you speak to the people at Track and tell them of your problem I am sure they can suggest the proper length for your gun.

    New Uberti 1860 Army Review

    D. Buck - yes, my load chain is perhaps a bit over complicated, but I bought the Wonder Wads when I bought my first Remy (Dixie recommended their use, and it was before I knew about using COW). I have about 100 of them left that I am trying to use up. After they are finished I will probably...

    New Uberti 1860 Army Review

I own two 1858 Remys. A Pieta Army with a target sight, and an Uberti Navy. But I figured you just have to have at least one Colt style pistol to call yourself a BP pistol shooter, so I bought an 1860 Army in Uberti flavor from Midway. The fit and finish on the gun are excellent. I am...

    Numrich H&A .45 Underhammer

The seller suggested .440. But he did not specify a patch thickness, and I got the feeling that maybe this was not his gun he was selling and had no first hand experience....oh well. Somebody out there has to have some current experience.

    Numrich H&A .45 Underhammer

Yes, it is .433 balls that I have for my Le Page, not the .443 I stated above and use them with a 0.010 patch. I'm going to see how that works.

    Numrich H&A .45 Underhammer

I bought a Numrich HOPKINS & ALLEN UNDERHAMMER .45 rifle today on Gunbroker. It is The "Offhand" model. The seller says it has a 20" barrel, but it sure looks a lot longer in the picture. Neat looking gun. Can anybody suggest a ball/patch combo to work with this rifle? I've read that the...

    CCI cap problems

The M6x x .75 fit my Pietta perfectly. Those are the Ampco ones that I bought. Works with #11 caps.

    Percussion Pistols

I have a .50 cal. Traditions William Parker that I load with 20 grains of powder along with 20 grains of cream of wheat on top of it. In my .44 cal. Pedersoli LePage I use 15 grains of powder along with the same amount of cream of wheat. You don't need a lot of powder to get a good accurate...

Lyman Plains Pistol vs. Pedersoli Kentucky Pistol?

If you want to go .50 cal I would highly recommend the Traditions William Parker. http://www.kitterytradingpost.com/hunting-shooting/black-powder/traditional-muzzleloaders/traditions-william-parker-50-cal-black-powder-pistol For about $370 it is one heck of a gun. Made by Ardesa in Spain it...
