    .36 caliber repro single shot?

I'll look for a Crockett, thanks. Yes, the Perdersoli under hammer is quite pricey...

    .36 caliber repro single shot?

Too heavy to hold to point of aim, but she (the wife) is also very recoil sensitive. We are talking hit the pie plate accuracy at 7-10 yards off hand shooting, nothing super accurate. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

    .36 caliber repro single shot?

Any current single shot reproduction percussion pistol, traditional style, .31 or .36 caliber, about 1/2-3/4 size/weight of of Lyman's Plains Pistol available on the market? Didn't see anything that fit the bill on Dixie and several other sites. Think of something good for a 8-12 year old to...

    Parts for build?

My Lyman's Plains Pistol is just too darned heavy for the wife. She is interested, but wants something lighter. Wondering if anyone has built a percussion .31 or .36 caliber with perhaps a four inch barrel, maybe for their kid as a starter? If so, recommendations for barrel and lock would be...

Carrying Extra Cylinders for a C&B Pistol

Nice recap, Zonie. For all of the vitriol, this has been an interesting thread to read. Thanks for raising the topic! Sincerely

load for my new to me flintlock

Good advice. 50 might be dangerous with a pistol of uncertain origin, and more than needed in any case. 15 is a solid start, with 25-30 likely a maximum. Per previous, work up slowly.

    Dixie Gun Works

I have never purchased from Dixie, but I can endorse the Lyman's .54 cal. percussion. Built like a tank, very accurate, and a load of fun. http://www.dixiegunworks.com/product_info.php?cPath=22_92_187_189&products_id=11607

    My Sow's Ear

It's too purdy to be a cheap pistol

Hackenbusch hand gonne from the rifle shop

Anyone have one of these? Care to voice an opinion? Care to share personal experience dealing with The Rifle Shop? Seems some have experienced long waits. Is it pay and pray, or a commitment kept? I don't so much mind a back order, but if they get the cash up front, there needs to be curbs...

    Lauber wheellock..why flint?

Wouldn't white be hotter than red? Just thinking heated metals, stars, etc.

    Dance and Brothers...safety concerns?

Except for the damage to your colon from the hypersonic evacuation... :blah:

:barf: Blech! Even a fine single malt couldn't fix what those things must taste like.

1st time out with a new Howdah Hunter

Master of understatement  Agreed, any load at 30 feet will sting a bit.

    pistol conversion

Beat me to the punch. Nothing wrong with owning both. Heck of a buy, they retail for about $350.

Uberti 1862 pocket not detonating caps

Thank you, Bill. I see if the mixture helps. I need to get an order into TotW, so I will see about a different wrench as well.
