    Have a brass framed 50 caliber Mowrey rifle (just aquired). No marking excepect 50 and serial number 10XXX stamped on barrel.     Finally bought my first BP pistol....a Lyman Plains in 50. Serial number is 138XXX....any idea on year of manufacture ?? Gonna start with 30 grains of FFG and a patched .495" ball....know that the guide recommends FFFG but I use FFg in my T/C White Mtn Carbine and that is all I've got... rick

    How clean is clean?

    I have thought about the pressure washer intial cleaning followed by very hot water and dry patches.....I too have been using bore butter to swab the barrel for storage in a safe with a golden rod...would gun oil be better for storage then a good cleaning before shooting again ?? rick...

    My WMC does really well with 70 grains of FFG Goex and a .495" RB with a TC Bore Butter Patch...this loads seems to work well and the previous owner reported several clean kills on whitetails.... rick

    Load question

    Thought I'd give a short report....kept her loaded acouple of days and she went off just fine...Wednesday saw 4 does and an 8 point. The buck was in range but we have a 13" minimum inside width antler restriction in effect...so he had to walk...Gonna clean the rifle really good tonight then...
