    H&A underhammer trigger problem

sometimes this can be fixed by rounding off the outside edge of the half cock notch, works if the two moving parts are just contacting at the outer edges. If they are hitting more square, the tip of the half cock notch may need brought down in height slightly to make clearance - if that is taken...

    draw filing

using a mill file, put the handle in your right hand and push, or in your left hand draw toward yourself. If you do the opposite you are working against the back of the teeth which a waste of your time and dulls your file. Holding the file at a slight angle can give you a bit more of a...

    home made trigger guard vise

If you use round stock for the rail that you pinch in the vise, you can rotate the whole assembly toward or away from yourself. I got one like that i haven't used since I stopped working with cast guards, but it worked like a champ.

How are underbarrel wedges supposed to fi?

The little gap above the installed key is a good thing. You'd also like to see a little gap at either end of the lug slot - not in the wood, just the underlug slot itself - to allow for stock expansion. Not as critical in a half stock gun but still desireable.

    Pins Or Wedges

Gary, function wise there's really no advantage to one over the other, althought the keys could be a little easier to work with if you ever had to pull the barrel. If you are building the gun yourself pins are quicker, it takes a little more time to make and fit keys. Your forend can be nice...
