Would you apply a lube to the balls I wrapped? (I think it was cotton t-shirt fabric.)

    Various balls for deer ...

Here's a shot of the three types of balls I have for my 20 ga. Pedersoli double gun. To put myself in context, I'm resurrecting this gun after storing it for a few years. I'm a little fuzzy about get back into the muzzleloading business. On advice in this forum, I developed a pretty good...

Would you hunt turkeys with these patterns?

Can't see how you can see the lead streaks in the barrel. When I remove the nipples to get a little light down at the bottom, what I get is a VERY little light down there.

Would I use an awl or a push pin to make the hole in the OS wad? Need an idea about the size of the hole.

Would you hunt turkeys with these patterns?

Did you see the right barrel target with 75 grains FFg and 70 grains (volume) #4 shot. That looked like a pretty tight pattern to me, No? And sorry, what does PIA mean? Thanks.

Would you hunt turkeys with these patterns?

OK here's an update on my experimenting to try to find the right powder/wad/shot combo for my 20 gauge Pedersoli. In the first shot are two patterns: http://www.photoshop.com/users/jeff_hills/albums/2d8a0bcaf36d4e07a9c9c16229838ed1/view#089daeba70204156a02fa53e69f24294 Left barrel (which is...

    pedersoli shotgun

I think you should go for it. But don't expect to use it for waterfowl as steel shot is not recommended.

Would you hunt turkeys with these patterns?

OK I'm going to try your suggestion - I have a 75-grain powder attachment for my powder dispenser so I guess that should be close enough to 80 gr. And maybe I'll mix 1/4 by volume #4s with the #7.5s you recommend. Thanks a lot. Looking for a nice sunny Vermont morning! Jeff Hills Dorset, VT

Would you hunt turkeys with these patterns?

Follow-up questions: What's wrong with Pyrodex? I do have a couple of cans of GOEX FFg and can easily change back. Where do I find cork wads? Could not find them at Track of the Wolf. I have a wonderful old embossed leather (bird dogs and other detail) shot bag for my shot dispenser. The...

Would you hunt turkeys with these patterns?

My thanks to you all for the suggestions. You've given me some great starting points for making my powder/shot/wad combo more effective. I'll try the 4/3 ratio ... and I've just been using one or two cardboard overshot wads. I'll try 4. Turkey season starts tomorrow.

Would you hunt turkeys with these patterns?

I guess I should add that I was using the same white cardboard "overshot" wads over both the powder and the shot. I thought the patterns - both at about 25 yards - were way bigger than I would have expected. http://www.photoshop.com/users/jeff_hills/assets/06ffea479412431f9e8e943faec57cc1 JRH

Would you hunt turkeys with these patterns?

Powder is Pyrodex - 75 grains. Shot is #4 7/8 oz. Shotgun is Pedersoli 20 ga. Don't know the chokes - gun is from the mid 70s - left barrel noticeably more choked than the right. Suggestions on how to improve for turkey hunting appreciated. Thanks for any advice. Check out the pix...

Turkey loads for Pedersoli 12 ga.

I have a Navy Arms Pedersoli 12 gauge double-barreled muzzleloader (vintage early 1970s)that I am planning to use for Vermont Turkey hunting this Spring. I am looking for advice on loading it and wondering if I can buy just a few lbs. of #4 and #6 lead shot. As you know, turkey hunting doesn't...

Mec 12 Ga Steel Shot Wads

Many thanks for the advice. Right now I am thinking about using this gun for turkey hunting this Spring. I am wondering if there is an internet site that would sell me a small supply of #4 and #6 lead shot. Thanks again.
