    New Muzzle Loader Hunter

Thanks - mine seems to shoot fine with 75grain - so Yea I will keep it there - I had thought perhaps I need a stronger punch to take deer down clean. Although I am still working on sighting the gun in. And thank you - makes sense - I will keep ball in for a few days and see what happens.

    New Muzzle Loader Hunter

I just started hunting deer with my TC 50 Cal Hawken....hoping for my first deer. I was a shotgun pheasant hunter - never been out for deer until now. So wondering - when shooting with ML. I have some real beginner questions so I appreciate any assistance! Do you keep a cap on the nipple and...

Newbie Dry Fire on my TC Hawken

Thanks everyone. I am new to ML yes. OK - I GOT it done - put about 20 powder grains in the nipple opening - and she fired. I did do the bucket water clean thing - cleaned the heck out of the gun. Bore butter etc. BUT I was not able to get the nipple out until yesterday so looks like that...

Newbie Dry Fire on my TC Hawken

Thanks - I popped about 6 caps before I gave up actually. She was mounted on the wall after I cleaned the gun...trying to remember the procedure when cleaning this last time - was not a major one just nipple and quick on bore as it was a short shoot.

Newbie Dry Fire on my TC Hawken

Thanks - definitely not a dry load... You mean that screw under the niple? I tried turning that out last week and the top just came off...so only way that comes out is if I drill it out. I guess I will try a few grains in the nipple cavity.

Newbie Dry Fire on my TC Hawken

Well - thank you for the recommendations. When I cleaned that gun - I was not able to pull that niple out. I did not have the wrench for it - got the wrench last week but did not pull it out since it was firing OK....until now. I did pull it out - was almost frozen and when I got it out I...

Newbie Dry Fire on my TC Hawken

Hi Everyone, Well getting set up for deer season here - get out to a nice spot - set up a profile target 100 yards or so out - spotting scope sighted in...all set to go! All my gear out etc you get the picture :-( Load her up - 60 grains powder (been going 60/65/70 to see how she shoots) .490...

    TC Hawken Hammer Issue

[/url] Thank you I will check that out. I tried a bunch of stuff and basically I have no rear trigger - does not fire at all, just swings back and forth. The front trigger fires but it is no where near a hair trigger now - no matter what I do with that screw adjustment it has little effect...

    TC Hawken Hammer Issue

I cleaned the heck out of all mechanisms...so I think I am good there - NOW - torque on screws may be another story...I will have to recheck that.

OK thanks! I will give that a shot....not a gun guy yet so tinkering with a trigger setup seemed intimidating to me. I will try the cleaning, reset etc- thanks again.

    TC Hawken Hammer Issue

OK - again new guy. So learning a lot here. So I am getting the TC 50 Cal Hawken ready for my first deer season here. Been over my fireplace for 6 months since I bought the gun - took out once and fired three times. Couldnt hit a tree. Anyways - I noticed that the hammer would not lock into...
