1832 Original Hawken light mountain rifle. Opinions welcome please!

Straight rifling might make it a European, possibly German barrel. Just a possibility

    I must have an addiction.

I have quite a large set of Lincoln logs, but my grandkids have never been really interested
  6. cositrike

    So what’s the difference...

Unless it was a chiefs grade of course.

Looks to me like another tourist piece. Probably made in Afghanistan. Maybe some original parts, but possibly not

    Identifying an old Brown Bess

Exactly what it is, I’m not sure, but it is definitely not a Brown Bess. It was never a British military flintlock musket. Possibly Afghan? Others will be more knowledgeable

probably a dumb question re squirrel rifle

It has to be quite a big bore gun, or you’ll never be able to get the squirrel down the barrel. Lol

    I bought an original SXS

I have liked reading your hunting posts and some quite humorous comments, but having read your comments to another forum user today, you sound like a spoiled child, who hates any criticism. I have lost all respect for you.

    What does this tell you?

Looks to me like the patch material might be a bit too loose weave

    Ball molds

I have lots of these moulds, but then I am in England and not too far from where they are made. Great ball moulds in any caliber you might want

    Right hand to left

I’m right handed, but my right eye is no good, so I’ve shot left handed for over 40 years. Most of my guns are right handed flintlock and I’ve never had any problems shooting them from the left. In fact I have one left handed flintlock and find it somewhat awkward.
