Musket or Percussion caps #11 magnum

I was wondering if I should switch to the musket cap. I already drop a lot of the #11"s. :hmm: The musket caps seem larger and easier to handle. Most of my shooting will be with FFF. Lots of it smallbore. What are the advantages of the two caps? Any help is very much appreciated. Thanks, sduve

Surely miss the squirrel hunting days.

This has been a "most interesting" topic for me in a long time. I am recovering from cancer surgery and am planning my first hunt of the year for the weekend of Jan 20th. This has been the first hunting season missed since I started in 1974. It has been hard to watch my 2 sons, 11 and 16, leave...

    Clubs in South East Ohio

The trade fair at Canter's Cave I believe is the weekend of Jan 20 and 21. Haven't been there but hope to this time. Duck season usually has me then but I'm still battling some cancer and haven't gotten out this year for any shooting. The Sons of Liberty events link

    Couldn't you just lube them?

.32 cal Rifle Green Mtn Barrel

If you shot a PRB down a smoothbore, would it naturally take on a spin or just knuckle like a pitch from the Phil Niekro? :hmm:

    Muzzleloaders on Outdoor Channel

I saw the show and it was very well done. They even mentioned Canter's Cave(30 min from my home) where the class was given for making your own rifle. Hershel House and his brother were the instructors. These fellas have put out some really nice firearms over the years. I will set the vcr for Sat...

    Black Squirrel rifle

I had a Black Squirrel rifle by Traditions and it was a joy to shoot. It shot maxi's and PRB with just about the same POI. I bought the rifle for my odest son and he eventually sold it to help out his archery habit. Seems like I paid around $130 for that rifle on Auction Arms website.

    CVA Squirell Rifle

I purchased a used one in LH mod a couple years back for my sons and was very impressed. It shoots both conicals and prb one hole at 25 yd. Oh, it also has set trigger!

    Need advice on rusty barrel.

I do like the thought of a .56 smoothbore but I would still like to have a .50 to compliment my set of .32, .40, and .54 on the Renegade. I believe the bore is pitted and when I put a patch down it, the rust was really grabbing the cloth. I've never done this "lapping" thing before. I would at...

    Need advice on rusty barrel.

I purchased a 50 cal Renegade barrel with a rusted bore a few months back on Ebay and I knew of barrel's condition. What is the best technique for making this one a shooter, if possible? Thanks.

    TC .45cal/.50cal Double Ball Loads

This method of loading sure would make my .40 a little more lethal.

    Reasonable $$$ .36 rifle?

I just sold my son's .36 cal Bobcat this spring on gunm auction site. I have seen some since. New one's run around $150-200. Maybe check out gunbroker.com and set the search to notify you of CVA .36 rifles. It shot great with roundball and conicals. He wanted some money for a new longbow so he...

    .40 caliber on deer?

I took a button buck, less than 15 yards running towards me, here in Ohio this past ML season using a .40 cal GM drop-in for my Renegade. It shoots great with PRB over 60 gr 777 FFF. I used my own patches and lube. But, I was not extremely picky of what I shot and was very glad of no opportunity...

    Good load for my son?

My 10 yr old is small for his age(80 lbs) and for the last 2 seasons he has used 60-70 gr FF with a roundball in 50 cal. He already shoots trap with grandpa using a 12 ga O/U and 1 1/8 oz loads. As long as the gun fits him and fear is not implied, they can shoot quite a stout load. IMHO
