    I got a tc hawken bought used , and I cant get it to group for nuffin , its a 54 cal, 1-48 twist , my load is 90grain of ffg and .015 to .018 pillow ticking lubed patch and a 530 round ball , shooting of the bench at 50 yards I get a 7 inch group , and wiff maxi balls 6 inch or better group...

    Kroil

    I used kroil for years , but now I been using fluid film for the last 8 months and I tell you what , its the best stuff. I use it on my muzzle loaders inside and out , no rust yet its the best stuff .

    I got my tc hawken used , came wiff the factory barrel , 28 inch 1-48 twist , I tried different patch thicknes 015 to 020 and 530 to 535 rb using 90 to 120 ffg , my barrel wont shoot a group wiff a round ball for nuffin , and using a tc maxi ball i get 3 inch groups off the bench ,at 50 yards...

    I have a gm slow twist barrel in 54 cal , and yes its worth getting one , the tc barrel is junk ,mine couldnt group a rb , so tried tc maxi ball , it would get 4 inch group at 50 yds . so I got a gm slow twist barrel , at 50 yds it shoots one hole group and at 100 yds I,m getting 3 inch group...

    Adding target sights to an 1858?

    I use to have 1858 44 cal wiff target sights , it was a tack driver , but I sold it :cursing: , as for installing target sights , u have to drill and tap or dovetail by a gunsmith , which mite cost to much , plus the cost of the sights . I would just get one wiff the target sights all ready...

    Question? 1/48 vs Slow Twist.

    I prefer a slow twist deep grove rifling for prb , I have a tc hawkins in 54 cal , wiff the factory barrel ( 1-48 twist ) it does not have deep grove rifleing , it shoots a concal bullet good but for prb I get 2 to 3 inch groups at 50 yards , so I replaced the barrel wiff a green mountain barrel...

    I have a 32 cal , shooting .310 rb , .015 pillow ticking patch , using 20 to 25 grains of fffg , I have shot coons , tree rats , rabbits etc , havnt shot a ground hog yet just place a shot in the head dats all it takes , havnt had no complaints of the critters dat got shot. There pushing up...

    T/C Hawken .54 range report!

    good shooting , I have a tc hawken in 54 cal , mine load is 90 grains ffg ,.018 red stripe pillow ticking , homecast rb , I can get the same group as yours wiff the factory barrel , but wiff a gm barrel I use the same load but it shoots one hole groups :thumbsup:

    I got around to shoot my plains pistol in 54 cal. I was shooting at 25 yards free handed no rest. My load is 35 grains of ffg , homecast rb , red stripe pillow ticking and home made lube , all I can say is wow :thumbsup:

    walmart pillow ticking surprize

    Went to my local walmart to get some pillow ticking , broght my mic wiff me , found some tan stripe pillow ticking (100 % cotton ) , mic it at .015 of a inch , just the right size , so I got a yard of it. Took it home and washed it in cold water , dryed it and heres the suprize , I mic it again...
