    Hooked breech plug?

I don't think I said a pinned barrel was a problem to clean. However, my T/C barrel has a hooked breech and is cleaned using a bucket of water. Could it be cleaned any other way? Sure it could, but why would I do it any other way? I was just curious about full stock. (flinters)

    Hooked breech plug?

Thanks for your responses. I'll check the "Track". They seem a bit pricy but if I can't convince myself to either go half stock or get use to a pinned barrel I may have to spend the money. I sure like the looks of Pedersoli's Frontier flintlock. Was just hoping to find something similar with...

    Hooked breech plug?

Does anyone know who might make a long rifle with a full stock with a hooked breech plug. Or do all long rifles have the barrels pinned in place? Thanks!

    CVA Mountain Rifle question

Looks great without the patch box...just my opinion.

    Pedersoli Dixie Penn issues

Charley: I don't own a flintlock so I've never had a flintlock trigger apart. My T/C Hawken had a similar problem though. The hammer would not stay in the cocked position. All I had to do was adjust (loosen) the leaf spring tension. To be honest don't even know if the locks work the same...

    40 Cal. Crockett rifle

Good to hear that report. It's a good feeling when things come together. Well done!

    Bore Cleaning?

I would think that if what you saw was indeed 'minor pitting' it was there before you cleaned your rifle. If it were my rifle I'd clean it again and make sure I got everything out of the bore. Some JB bore paste should clean it up just fine, but I wouldn't go crazy with the stuff. If you find...

    Need help with T/C lock

Any particular oil to be used on the lock after cleaning? I notice in mine when I had it apart that there appeared something almost like a light grease in the spring and some of the other parts. What do you guys recommend for the lock?

    Squirrel rifle?

Use your .54 caliber, just make sure you hit 'em in the head. ;) Seriously...I've been wanting a squirrel rifle also. For me a .36 cal would be ideal, as I've heard the 32 cal round ball gets a bit difficult to handle in cold weather and the fouling makes it more difficult to load.

    Need help with T/C lock

I choose option #2 and bingo!!! Much more simple than trying to shim the entire trigger plate. Thanks for the tips. Only difference is that the screw that adjusts the tension on my rear leaf spring has a allen head...no big deal. necchi, you be the man. I'm grateful that you are willing...

    Need help with T/C lock

I'm with you on this now...excellent post...this is what I needed to know. I'll look at both options for a fix. Thx!

    Need help with T/C lock

Well, just when I thought everything was good...it turns out it isn't. I have discovered that my hammer won't stay in the full cocked position and if it does I can barely touch the back of the hammer and it falls. When I take the lock out of the stock and full cock the hammer it stays nice and...

    Need help with T/C lock

I took the three screws out and removed the plate. Two of the three screws were a bit loose...There was some gunk in there...used an old tooth brush as you guys suggested and applied a very thin coat of Ballistol. Put everything back together...tightened but not over tightened the screws and...

    Need help with T/C lock

Looks like I need to remove the three screws...they must be holding, what looks like, a plate down. Yes?

    Need help with T/C lock

I'm working on it now...got the lock out and there is some, what looks like some light weight grease or oil on the parts. I'm also taking pics...we'll see how it goes...can't hurt it much as it ain't work'in right anyways.

    Need help with T/C lock

I'm curious does the trigger mechanism also come out after I remove the lock? Is there any order as to what should come out first?

    Need help with T/C lock

Is there a video on how to do that? I would have no problem taking everything apart...it's getting it back together correctly that would worry me.

    Need help with T/C lock

I've been dreading this day. I have a T/C Hawken in .45, a wonderful gun with no problems until today. When I pulled the hammer to the full cocked position sometimes it will not stay or it stays for a second or two then falls all the way to the nipple. It scared the manure out of me today as I...

    Powder load

tenngun: You're spot on. Spit does dry pretty fast. I do shoot a lot of paper so that's why I like it. Out hunting is a different story, a good lube has a place also. Different rifles and patch thickness also plays a role. There are a lot of different combinations to try and it just takes...

    Powder load

I'd sure be retrieving and checking those patches. As others have said they ought to be burned slightly but not all the way through, without any cuts also. Look at them carefully, you'll be able to tell the difference with a bit of practice. For lube I tried a lot of different types over...
