    Old meat cleaver

I have one of those old cleavers as well. There are marks on it where it was pounded too. I always wish old tools could talk.

Man, the woods are getting right in NC...

I am always grateful that my maker has let me see another fall. There is something absolutely magical about this time of year. I am glad to hear that things are looking good in North Carolina. If I were uprooted tomorrow, I would be looking to move there.

    Not getting to hunt......@#$%^&!

My favored hunting grounds are about an hour and a half away. I guess his game would only last an hour and a half or so, but I hate to rush a hunt. I can wait.

    Not getting to hunt......@#$%^&!

Well, there is the matter of the late muzzleloader season. It is on up in december and follows the centerfire season. Hopefully by then I will have had a chance to get sighted in, and be ready to go with my rifle. I was just looking forward to hunting the early season because for whatever...

    Not getting to hunt......@#$%^&!

This weekend is Kentucky's Early Muzzleloader season. It is a two day affair, Saturday and Sunday. I called my hunting partner this morning and he said he couldn't hunt on Saturday, but that he could on Sunday. Crud! says I, because I can only hunt on Saturday. I have to work on Sundays. Oh...

    Chinese BP ok to shoot?

I am thinking I will just wait to get my hands on Goex. That way when I get zeroed, I shouldn't have to move my sights around much with the next pound of powder.

    Chinese BP ok to shoot?

If I'm not mistaken, the fella said he got one pound at a re-enactment. Maybe that was the Chinese he was talking about.

    scope a flintlock

My guess is that you would have to have your barrel drilled and tapped. Once that is done, I am sure weaver makes a mount and then it would be a matter of putting it up in rings high enough to keep it out of the hammer and frizzen. If scoping your flinter is the only way you can keep hunting...

    Chinese BP ok to shoot?

It was a name I haven't heard of, and I am playing phone tag trying to catch up with the guy right now. I had for some reason got it into my head that Elephant was made in China. Been a long time since I looked at a can. Anyway, I guess I will cabbage on whatever the guy has that he can...

    Chinese BP ok to shoot?

never gave any thought to the cans eventually being worth something. I would have never thought that a Prince Albert tobacco can would be worth anything either, though. Thanks for the reply.

    Chinese BP ok to shoot?

In my local scroungings, I have located a Civil War Re-enactor who has a few cans of FFFg BP lying around. A couple cans of Goex, which I am familiar with, a can of Elephant, which I believe is Chinese, and one more can of powder with I name I didn't recognize. Is the Chinese Mfg. BP safe to...

    Hello from the Bluegrass State

Thank you sir! I am Somerset, about an hour or so, South of Lexington. I actually work in Harlan, and commute, so I don't do much driving around otherwise unless I have to.

    Hello from the Bluegrass State

Thank you for the welcome and the question. My interest in black powder lies mainly with the sidelocks. I am down to two at this time, a TC Hawken, in .50 caliber and a new aquisition, a .45 caliber TC Cherokee. I traded a .54 caliber TC Renegade for the Cherokee, but I am already starting to...

    Hello from the Bluegrass State

My name is Joel. I grew up a football fan, and since the University of Kentucky is not what you might call a football powerhouse, I became an Alabama fan at an early age. I enjoy reading and all things outdoors. I have already posted a time or two and appreciate the willingness of the members...
