    Traditions Pennsylvania Percussion?

I think they are a pretty good rifle; the Spanish barrels are very good and shoot well. As you surmised, no problems with the percussion locks. However, as Zimmerstutzen relates, the comb on this model is pretty high. I have handled them and was unable to get my (admittedly porky) face down low...

    Good Locks for Beginner

I second Mr. Sulphur. I own a Lyman GPR and it has proven to be very reliable. My Trade Rifle is percussion, but the same would apply and it is a little handier. I do like the single trigger for hunting. The GPR would be the better choice if you intend to do a little weekend paper punching at a...

    TVM Iron Pennsylvania?

Dixons has scads of Lymans on the rack, so go and fondle some of them. My feeling has always been that if you are relatively new to muzzleloading to go with something like the Lyman. They are a great hunting gun and do well at the monthly shoots held by many BP clubs. If you spend some time...

    flintlock books...

I have your book and think it is a great read and a terrific resource for all muzzleloading enthusiasts. One of the best! I will go back to Amazon and add my review.

    New look Muzzle Blast

I second that! Great job on the magazine revamp. The NMLRA needs all our support. Unfortunately, black powder shooting in general seems to be old timers like myself more and more.

    Iowa to Virginia Muzzleloader Shops

What Zimmerstutzen said. Dixon's is the place that all muzzleloading enthusiasts should make a pilgrimage to. As many times as possible. While there, make sure you take time to look at all the rifles hanging from the ceiling.

    Narrowed it down, opinions....

That would be Midsouth Shooter's Supply for $390.

    CVA mountain rifle flint lock?

Yes. I have an early "Made in USA".50 percussion and a Spanish .50 flint. Both are excellent shooters.

What is the difference in a Pennsylvania and Kentucky long rifle?

The difference is that "Kentucky" rifle is a misnomer. The correct term is "Pennsylvania Rifle", Pennsylvania being the center of gunmaking activity at that time. They were widely used in Kentucky, the "dark and bloody ground".

    Frizzen replacement

    Frizzen replacement

The Lymans are also made by Investarms. Probably the same lock, although I couldn't swear to it. I've seen Lyman replacement frizzens on the rack at some sporting goods stores. Shouldn't be too hard to find.

    Pedersoli lock problem

You might try Richard Beauchamp at flintlocksetc.com. They are the primary importer of Pedersoli guns.

T.C. Factory Breech Plug Thread Size

Track of the Wolf sells these in 11/16x20. They state that it fits the factory barrel. They carry other thread sizes also, so I would call them to confirm what you need.

    NEW Traditions Mountain rifle?

Would like to handle one myself, but I have not seen one for sale anywhere; have not even seen one at any online store.

    Shenandoah .36

Sounds like an attractive offer. As with all used muzzleloaders, be sure to examine the bore with a good bore light.

    Spout for black powder bottles

I actually have this spout for my Goex/Old Eynsford powder in the new plastic containers, but Naphtali's question is about a lid for Swiss powder. Are you saying that the Swiss takes the same size as the new Goex?

    Spout for black powder bottles

The Log Cabin shop shows one online for about 9 bucks. Looks like a big friction fit rubber stopper design with an automatic closing spout. Never used one but it looks interesting.
