    New Barrels for build arrived.

Wasn't my mistake; I'll keep them never know when I might have a buddy at a machine shop one day. $40 for two barrels including shipping, not worth the hassle to send back.

    Reasons for small bore MLers

I'll explain it best I can why the 40cal is my choice of caliber. I live in SC where we have a season that is 4 months long for muzzleloaders, so we are not under pressure to pull the trigger on a low percentage shot. Our legal muzzleloader caliber for deer is 36 cal and up, Our small game...

    Toe Plate box??

Very true, plan to make it a long toe plate to move it close to center and will only need 7/16" hole. But still have not figured it out yet.

    40 caliber cast bullets....

If I ever get my rifle finished 40Cal GM barrel, I plan on testing a lee mold blank drilled with a Size X drill. Then use a x shape cloth patch. If I stay in the 140-150 grain weight it should only be about bore size in length, so the 48" twist should stablize it. (All this is theory at this...

    Toe Plate box??

Getting back to my first build and going through the net eying, all the photos I can I came across a toe plate box, similar to a cap box but Much smaller in the toe plate. That would be just the ticket I need as the wood I have is nicely figured but would like a spot to hold a cleaning jag. Is...

    Aqufortis vs Lye

Have lots of different woods so that is the reason for testing. I could not remember if the aquafortis needed nutralizing or not. Easy off is so easy to use, is the reason. Spray wipe and neutrize, no heat to take chance of scorching a thin peice. Thanks guys.

    Aqufortis vs Lye

Going to do some test pieces, and I seem to remember From Zonie's artical you need to use Vinger after a lye/easy off to nutrelize the lye base. Can someone confirm. also Aqufortis finish is there a need to neutralize the acid? Memory is . Thanks in advance.

    Soldering sights?

I was looking at the sights on TOW and notice they have brass, silver, and Steel. I wanted to check with you guys. Do you need a special type of solder for brass sight to steel barrel? I got some of the low temp stuff. Or is it tin and stick like normal?

    enlarging ramrod hole

I was thinking of welding a drill bit to the end of the rod but was worried about warping it and/or not getting it straight. I just rounded the end so it would track center of the hole that was already drilled, then ground it flat about a half inch up the rod for cutting edge like a paddle bit...
